Big Bend 2 door owner 2023. Under 10k miles. Had my 1st oil change at a Ford dealer ... 2 days after picking it up i noticed a large puddle of oil on the driveway. 1st day did not notice it due to heavy rain we had. Took it in Dec 17th to learn the oil pan had a crack rt near the drain plug. It is February 10th and zero update on when the repair will be completed. What rights do I have ? Female and frustrated because when i ask questions i get IDK as a answer...Any one else have this happen? To be honest i am over it!! I have been told by a neighbor that the engine mounts need to be undone to fix it and it is a big job. I rather just get rid of it at this point. Appreciate any thoughts or advice.

Your rights are based on your state laws.
Don’t be offended by the lack of info from the dealer, plenty of men get the same treatment.
Enjoy the rental car and the Bronco should be good as new once fixed. Oil pan change is not a complicated job.
My guess is the oil change person broke that by over torquing the bolt.

I thought all the pans were plastic? That looks like metal to me.

Go put some pressure on the dealer.
Metal pan on the 2.3.

Looks like the dealer put the pressure on when tightening

Well it should not take a month to replace an oli pan…if you are that upset about your Bronco/dealer just trade it for something else from a different dealer…life is too short to not be happy…

Firstly, no matter the cause, this should be a warrenty item. Secondly, I wouldn't be surprised if the "tech" used an impact on this. Thirdly, that "tech" would never touch my Bronco again.

100% this was caused by a tech over tightening the drain plug. Likely means they are not checking torque specs on anything else like on tires when performing a tire rotation. They usually like to over tighten the oil filters as well. Luckily these kind of repairs are done by heavy line techs not rookie lubies.

I would recommend skipping the advisor you are working with and just be in direct contact with service manager instead.

Oil change tech makes a mistake and damages something....I want a new vehicle???? Sadly there are a lot of people like you out there who just fold when they get the run around and want to avoid confrontation.....this is why businesses do this, they hope you fold and just go away. Push back on them and make them fix it, running away from every confrontation won't solve anything long term, this will just keep happening until you figure out how to deal with it. stand up for yourself and be a pain in their ass until it is fixed....not how the world should work but this is the times we are living in a lot now sadly.

@Jackiecoop8 , as everyone has said it is a 93.356% certainity (probably higher) that the dealer caused this crack/leak by overtightening the drain plug when they did your oil change.

Unfortunately your just going to have to insist they repair the damage they caused. This will be a confrontation, and they probably will deny liability at first. Take a fried if it helps, but do not take no for an answer.

@Jackiecoop8

You absolutely should have a loaner/rental vehicle PAID FOR BY THE DEALER.

Service shops have insurance that covers this type of stuff, I learned about this the hard way, as you are right now. The insurance will cover the repair cost as well as the rental.

If they are not giving you answers (and a loaner/rental vehicle) and you have trouble advocating for yourself, get someone who can do it .... a strong willed, intelligent friend or hire a lawyer to "look into it".
Usually a phone call that the issue is being elevated gets the wheels turning.

You could also ask for the vehicle back and tell them you are taking it to another mechanic to fix what their lube tech damaged ... and ask again about a rental.
Be sure to let them know that they will be paying for the repairs.

In my case, I looked the manager dead in the eye and VERY calmly, probably too calmly , told him "One way or another, you are going to pay for these repairs. I and my mechanic are approaching this very forensically with the full intent that this will require legal action."

His insurance company contacted me within just a few days.
Blew my mind that they made first contact.

Once they realize the repair is moving out of their control and will cost them more , they may get to work on it.
