  2. GRMS radios

I also have a midland 275 mounted in the console with external speaker centered above windshield…get a good antenna and it is all ya should need…also have some Radioddity gm30 handhelds for out of vehicle and loaners
  3. Asked to decide between Ranger or Bronco

If I still needed a truck the silly little beds on these things are pretty laughable so it would have to be at least a 2dr f150…real trucks or Broncos don’t have 4 doors…that 2dr 2.7 is definitely the keeper…at least mine is…
  4. What Made You Fall in Love With Off-Roading?

as a little kid we lived up a dirt road that turned to mud cars would get stuck in, my uncle loaned us his WWII Jeep to use…parked on the pavement and jeeped back and forth…that ā€œadventureā€œ grew into serious rock crawling and trail running
  5. Thoughts about my Bronco from a Jeep guy!

Yeah! Getting old sucks…while I started with an early bronco I became a pretty serious rock crawling Jeep guy and even daily drove a few cj2a s but got sick and long story short got a 2dr 2.7 bronco that has gotten me back on a few trails and like the thing more than I thought I would…welcome to...
  6. E load tires are way overkill

I don’t really ā€œneedā€ a lift for 37s on my 2.3 non Sasquatch outer banks do I? Planning for rubicon soon, any tips?
  7. Diff Drop with 37s - Have you had any problems with your CV axles

Again, changing the rack or the axles does not change the angles and limiting total travel/articulation is not a good solution in off roading imho
  8. Diff Drop with 37s - Have you had any problems with your CV axles

in my mind the bigger the tire the less uptravel/compression ya have before they hit the body/fenders (travel is restricted) so any ā€œextraā€ down travel/droop ya can get is a good thing for total travel/articulation…all limited by cv angles…a diffdrop gives ya that extra down travel/cv angle…not...
  9. Will SAS wheels fit

Yes ya can bolt them on and remove the crash bars to avoid them rubbing while turning but the tires will hit the fenders at full compression…I recommend at least a 3/4ā€ body lift…they are also heavier (more unsprung weigh) so they ā€œstressā€ your stock coilovers more which will adversely effect...
  10. Diff Drop with 37s - Have you had any problems with your CV axles

You guys are talking way over my head but the innovation diff drop I have was to address CV angles at droop with my original spacer lift and there was talk about plunge in designing it…I have not had any driveline/axle problems with it and even think it reduces cv angle at ride height…since...
  11. Let's talk lights. How much lighting needed? I need suggestions.

Go out and decide where ya want more light and fix that…Having done rubicon midnight runs with just old sealed bean headlights my DD SAE fog & driving pods along with BD s2 ditch pods (ya may think about rock lights for your spotter) are way more than I ā€œneedā€ for rocky trails and work great on...
  12. Which aftermarket bumpers to consider - kinetic recovery/strength concerns

I have had a JCR aluminum Vanguard with the old tricky Dick frame reinforcement kit for about 3 years and have done some heavy angle pulls without issue…so far so good…
  13. Food storage - fridge

Just got an Iceco vl45 and Jackery 1000v2 (to also run my cpac) they just fit in the back of my 2dr with the seats up… the cigarette lighter plug in the back of the Bronco gets very hot when plugged into the jackery (charges at almost 100 watts)…I don’t trust it to last plus I need faster...
  14. Bigger intercooler + charge pipes worth it for 2.7L?

Glad you are enjoying your intercooler & pipes…I said the gains would be at harder use which seldom happens in street driving…but I would like to see actual dyno results showing the gain before plopping down my cash…few manufacturers supply any (or even claim any performance gain)…the $3k+ I...
  15. Bigger intercooler + charge pipes worth it for 2.7L?

You are not gonna make any/much HP in normal driving with an intercooler but better for long pulls/hard use and it would be my first performance mod (after a tune) then a downpipe for better flow…a cai and catback would be last for me…but the 2.7 does pretty good with just a ford tune for...
  16. How Often Are You Guys Actually Hitting the Trails?

Since I moved into retirement I am 3+hours from any real trails so it is at least a two day trip that needs some planning and my old sick body makes it harder to get out there but try to hit something at least every couple months…meanwhile the local ocean and mountain roads in my model A keep me...
  17. Bronco script emblem is my favorite exterior mod

Yep, one of the first things I did…added chrome door handle covers to match also…
  18. What's the Biggest Lesson You've Learned Off-Roading?

    why I always say ā€œdon’t follow meā€ā€¦šŸ˜œ
  19. Headlights and fog lights (Big Bend bumper)

  20. Quick question: What kind of headlights are you running right now?

Stock base leds…have SAE fog and driving led lights so the headlights are pretty useless…
