My 2025 OBX Sasquatch is mostly a “hanger queen” in my garage. Last evening I had it out and noticed the gear selector isn’t lit. Is this one of Ford’s shortcomings in the Bronco or is this something I need to make an appointment at the dealership?
I can’t tell if this is a serious post. The gear selector is clearly shown on the dash right in front of your face. And to pop a vehicle in drive you just release it from Park and let go of the button and pull the selector back and it will automatically stop in drive. Neutral is one click forward and reverse is one more click forward. Again, I have no idea if this is a serious post.

I've never seen a manual transmission with a lighted gear selector.

Illuminated automatic gear selectors went away once manufacturers were able to display the information in the instrument cluster.

It's safer to look at the instrument panel for that information. Your eyes don't leave the road for as long. So I don't think NTSHA will ever require illuminated gear selectors.
I mostly only buy a new vehicle every 10>12 years under normal circumstances, so I guess I’m a little behind the times. Next time I buy a new vehicle I will only need to think what I want my vehicle to do. AI will make all my decisions.
Have you taken a center console apart? Is there even space under it to throw an LED?

I'll do it myself if it's fairly simple.
I can’t imagine there’s not a 12 volt tap somewhere under the console that an aftermarket company can make a pig tail connector for, not to mention with LED technology with a sealed selector strip that could be snapped in place after cutting out the selector indicator.
Yeah, some people may think it’s safer to have the gear selection displayed within the instrument cluster, but you still have to look down at the rotary GOAT knob while gearing up. Also I’ve never seen a manual with illumination because the shift pattern is carved out on the shifter knob and from there it’s “muscle memory”.

Oh this is the outraged thread. Great I’m outraged that there is no ashtray with a cig lighter in it and I don’t even smoke. Gerrr😠

How did NSHTA let that get by, now people have to throw the butts out the window.
Gerrr more outrage.

🤣

Why would you look down when they put a lighted indicator on the dash right in front of you ?
lol... I was thinking the same thing... why would anyone need to look at the shifter? 😵

I never look at the shifter. My hand knows where it is.

1). You should know what position the shifter is in by feel.
2). Since the auto shifter is dirt simple (no 1s, 2s, 3s) makes more sense to have it up where your eyes can scan it in an instant instead of taking your eyes off the road.

If any complaint it would be that the display doesnt show what gear the transmission is in under normal circumstances. My f150 raptor does and I find it very useful.

Now what we really need is illuminated exhaust pipes. I had this on a 90's van I bought one time. My buddy told me it was a clogged catalytic converter. He has no sense of style!

Agree, Ford totally screwed the pooch on the Bronco Select-Shift application.... F-series works so well, all they had to do was copy/paste.... 🤬

Another example of Ford cheaping out and profiting...
My 2019 Escape didn't illuminate either... But 2018's did 🫩
Also, they turfed the led tails for shitty, single bulb halogens.
My 2015 Fiesta has more of the "little things" than my $75k Bronco
1982 Lada Niva trim rlica haha where else can you pay $50K+ for nostalgic finishing and features haha.
