2025 Suspension Recommendations (by Snacktime)

Reading through this thread, I think I have more clarity, but also some confusion...
2021 Badlands - Non-SAS / 4D

Goal: 2.5" lift with 35" tires, offroading (mild), more 4-5 day overlanding

Looking at the Bilsteins 6112, but the spring is unknown per thread.
Looking at the Icon Stage 2 (only goes 2", K40012T ) - No Coil-Overs
Looking at the Icon Stage 3 (K40013T) - Rather expensive installed

Is the Icon a maintenance headache over other brands?
Is the Icon S3 worth the increase spend over the S2 and 6112?
Billet or Tubular UCA?

I would budget for adjusting the 6112. You will most likely end up with stinkbug or carolina squat that can be corrected with the shock adjustment. You will have to drive around a month for the springs to settle in. I like the Icons but really 4wp coilovers are to cheap to pass up but they may be to much lift.

You can always stack a little to adjust if needed. You can use the round spacers in this kit to help level out a little as they fit front and back.

I am looking at the same thing for my 2024 Badlands non Sas too. I have a Zone 1" level kit now with 35" tires and have done some decent off roading with NO rubbing. I'm looking at 2" to 2 1/4" lift in the front, with the rear 1/4" higher for cargo. From what I've read and watched on YouTube, any lift under 2 1/2" does not require UCA's or a rear track bar relocation bracket. With that said, I am a firm believer in buy once, cry once. I am very interested in the new Bilstein 8112 coil overs, even though they are pricey. From what I've read and watched, the Bilstein's will last 60,000 to 80,000 miles so that's where the value is. If anyone has any insider info about these shocks (good or bad) please reply as I am about to pull the trigger on these soon.

6112 is a better option than Icon S2 with factory coilovers (regardless of price)

Now, if money was not a concern in this category, would the Icon S3 be the ideal path?

In the end, I don't mind spending the extra monies as this is a long-term decision...

5100 & 6100 Bilsteins are going to be the longest lasting option. Bilsteins are one of the best proven products as they have been on the market for 20 years. Once you decide you want more performance then Icon Stage 2 become appropriate, they don't last as long but are serviceable. Stage 3 are equivalent to 4wp Coilovers which are full coilovers in a whole different class. Icon makes a good product just learn the differences in the construction. Every shock maker has a different combination of shaft size, body material and adjustments. I don't have that intricate knowledge so that's I why I try and stay away from coilover discussions.

However for $1400 4wp coilovers are pretty much the best dollar for dollar suspension right now. You are not getting to get $1000-2000 worth of more performance out of another coilovers till you get custom tuned shocks. Custom tuned means the company takes the time to individually valve and spring each shock for your weight, lift and tire.

1. I am new to the bronco community so I am not entirely sure what I am looking at.

& 2. The more I look at it the more Icon logos I see under there…

Curious if someone would be able to help identify what I am working with as the dealer is unsure what the previous owner had installed too.

More measurements. Your point about shock shortening has me planning to measure the empty/curbside eye-to-eye compression of these Fox 2.5s, just to see where I am in the range given my curbside weight.That and the other standard measurements will lead me to which mod to do (coilovers vs spacers).

Back from the shop and all measured up empty with spare mounted - 24.5 inches axle center to top of inner wheel well, front and back. So I’m stock SAS with about 2” lost, with 1.5” spacer/1” level to compensate - rides great, no brake dive etc. I’ll go the rear spacer route to help my road trip loads.

I’ll keep next-level tuned 2.5’s ($$$) on my list for a next generation build.

Is it "necessary" ? Of course not. There is quite a lot of capability there already, but its not a bad thing to add a bit more clearance.

Hi, so interjecting here. You mentioned the body lifts around 1 to 1.5. is there a real reason NOT to do that? If I just want to gain a little room in the wheel well for 35s?
