The irony is that my original plan was a Hoss 3.0 and the end cap/bushing.
I ended up talking myself into "going all out" and "buy once, cry once".
This is one time when going with the cheaper option would have been better.
The entire housing unquestionably the strongest available option. I think it is extremely money well spent if going 37" or larger tires or needing the most reliable solution for solo or remote travel (especially rock crawling).

We have no regrets adding the full housing for the Raptor. We have the factory tie rods with Foutz sleeves (and factory spare). However, both of our tie rods are clunking with 13k miles which isn't confidence inspiring (Ford is going to warranty). I've reached out to APEX and requested upgraded ball joint style tie rods.

I'd stay away from the heim style steering (unless for race application). They wear out quickly on road. Can get noisy. But strong (maybe too strong). APG did a great video talking about how the heim steering changes the pivot geometry (essentially introduction bump steer) and reduces steering angle.

It would be helpful to have comprehensive failure documentation to make the most informed decision on upgrade path.

I have an "extra" HOSS 3.0 rack sitting in my shop that I was going to use for the 74W stage 3. I think I will just roll with the factory rack for now and install the BB passenger side housing that I've been kicking around the shop...

Nothing wrong with wanting to increase the load carrying capacity of the steering rack and tie rods. It is just a better design practice to have the failure point be for an easily accessible part. Nobody is wanting to break tie rods, just keep the rack from breaking. Definitely beef up tie rods, just not wise for them to be the strongest part in the load path.

Like @Snacktime said.

RPG double shear tie rods are stronger than the internals in a 74Weld housing.
If this is the case then the 74weld housing paired with the RPG double shear tie rods is a poor system level design solution.

Are you talking about the kit that has a clevis that mounts directly to the rack? Or do they have a kit that double shears at the knuckle?

If you get their portals you can option for double shear at the knuckle, just gotta drill out the ball joint taper to a straight 5/8” hole. I think that Dorman system posted earlier might be the only way to get double shear on the factory knuckle.

I'm not a Fan or Supporter.... but $2,128 for a Hoss 3.0 (programmed), bushings and end housing.

Any knowledge on how this solution has been holding up? Failures?
Tyler has done some dumb things on YouTube and there are a lot of haters. But he went above and beyond to airship some much needed parts to me at an amazing price when I broke on Imogene pass back in July of this year. I have since met him in person and he’s very down to earth and truly wants to help make our Broncos better. He’s far from getting rich doing it.

but seriously, changing a tie rod is stupid easy and everyone off-roading should know how to do it. It’s a must.

Sounds like easy content for your YouTube channel!

A common theme from his customers has been that he stands behind his products and provides great support.

As I've learned dealing with Ride shocks customer service and support can make all the difference.
