Looking good! Not to worry on the plugs--nice and snug is good enough. I rarely, if ever, torque them and never had one loosen or leak.I finally got it done. front, rear, and Transfer case. Thank you guys and especially CarbonSteel for all the info. I couldn't get a torque wrench in there to tighten the upper and lower fill, so I tightened it with a normal wrench.![]()
Yeah, pipe threads with wrap won't leak if they are snug..........Looking good! Not to worry on the plugs--nice and snug is good enough. I rarely, if ever, torque them and never had one loosen or leak.
Nonononono, all you ever admit to is that you used German torque specs. (aka, gutentight)I couldn't get a torque wrench in there to tighten the upper and lower fill, so I tightened it with a normal wrench.
Definitely looks like water introduction. How do you define "deep water?"Anyone else's front diff fluid look like this? M210, 17k miles. Haven't gone through any deep water.

That does appear to have water in it, but you will not know for sure without running a used oil analysis on the oil. I had a 2010 F-150 that had "yellow" colored fluid in the front axle from the factory, but it did not look milky like yours does.Anyone else's front diff fluid look like this? M210, 17k miles. That yellow fluid could have been gear marking compound. It gets used occasionally at the plant. That does appear to have water in it, but you will not know for sure without running a used oil analysis on the oil. It's good that you changed it.
