When would you have to take it apart again if it has a fill and drain plug now. If it only has a future issue?
I still pull the cover at certain intervals just to check internals and to wipe out the bottom cavity to remove accumulated metal "goop".

That's just me...

Thank you! One last question is it bad to use the performance gasket and follow instructions so no permatek black and use ford bolts...will it leak?

It would depend on how mismatched the gasket surfaces are. The caveat is you can't crank down too much without either stripping a bolt or smashing the gasket too much.

I had ordered a fresh reusable gasket, upon delivery the parts guy saw that it came with its own Fibreglass? Gasket and shelved the one we ordered.

I also thought, I’ll just slap some goop on it to be sure, and was surprised to see the instructions called for a dry fit. So, I’ll be attempting as the instructions say. There shouldn’t be any need to replace the gasket and all the hardware unless there’s an issue. And if there is, Carbons got us sorted!

Just finished mine up at 7500 miles Base with no lockers and the rear was very dark and full of metal, front was about 75% as bad. Glad I changed them as they looked like 60-80k miles not 7500. The transfer case was fairly clean but the magnet did have a lot of metal on it.

One side note for those of you with the M190 front as mentioned earlier in this thread there's a male barb and not a fill bolt like the M210. I knew this going in but didn't realize how big a PITA it would be. When I tried to put a small hose over the barb then squeeze fluid in it would pressurize and spray all over making a mess. I used a small MT Bike syringe from my hydraulic MTB brake bleed kit and the hose fit inside the male barb. Even this very small hose barely had enough room to let air out as fluid went in.

Here's the pic from earlier in this thread of the barb.

It's for the axle vent and definitely a PITA if that is the only way to add oil.

Wondering if just slow down and gravity feed it would work. Maybe start it first and work on the rest.

I don’t have the M190 either, but there should be a fill plug on the drivers side of the diff next to where the halfshaft goes in. Drain is bottom passenger side.

@CMillBronco - Uh, I think that's just the breather tube and likely the culprit on how I got milky fluid from water ingress. @Ducati1098 is correct. Drain is on passenger side and fill is on driver side. Easy peasy. 30 minute job, tops.

At least I know what to look for if I plan to install a breather kit.

I’ll have to crawl under and check. Thanks for looking out.

so you could just connect a hose and run it up higher to prevent water intrusion?

Correct. ARB has one, but someone posted up a parts list so that you can do all 4 for similar cost of the ARB kit which only handles 2.
