So forget the portals, if one was to just run some beefy 37x13.50r17 tires with like 17x9 -12mm offset wheels and a Dobinson MRR or any other lift kit. If you wanted to upgrade you gear ratio would you choose the 5.13 or 5.38 gear ratio? Stock setup is 4.7 with Sasquatch.

Ive been running 37s on mine for 4 years now, First with stock Sasquatch suspension, then with Bilstien 6100s and a Zone level, now with pro-comp coils set to almost the same height front and back as with the 6100s. Stock rims, I have the 2.0 rack with driver side bushing and upgraded to the Vasher design billet passenger side rack housing. ( have JKS tie rod sleeves also, going to upgrade tie rods now)

I have done some tougher trails, not as tough as Sierra and others, but the LCG and good upgrades you can wheel some tough trails. I would ditch the 13.50 wide for 12.50 wide though, beyond clearance issues, the 13.50 is a big tire and will add to tax on the steering.

4.70 gears are fine with the 10 speed, maybe you give up a little off the line , but the mechanical strength of a 4.70 pinion compared to a 5.13 or 5.38 will pay off in the long run.

Just replaced our steering rack on the trail. Can confirm that the tierods are easier to change than the entire rack. Who knew?

If anyone is curious on how long it took-84 minutes start to finish. Including unloading tools. We’ve swapped a few of them but also took the time to clean the tierod threads with a pick. Your results might be better…or not…

What do you think about 17x9 wheels at -12mm offset instead of 17x8.5 wheels at a 0mm offset? I want to run a 13.50 wide tire in either 37 or 38 and don't want to rub internal components. Most of these aftermarket coilover lift kits require a 4.75 backspace on a 17x8.5 wheel which is a 0mm offset and if you do a 17x9 wheel the 4.75 backspace would translate to a -6mm backspace but the Method wheels I want only come in a -12mm offset and I want to run 13.50 wide but not sure if this setup will work. I do plan on the JKS clearance kit and aftermarket rock sliders that have better clearance. Also not sure if this is too much negative offset for 3.0 rack as stock is +30mm offset so I would be going a total -42mm offset which sounds like a good amount.
