Looks absolutely amazing I'm glad you went with the 40s, that was a good call, if youre gonna go with portals might as well go with the 40s.
Well see what happens when i get it flexed out. From reading the 74W portal thread and seeing what all those guys tried and their experiences, I fully expect some rubbing and some new projects to resolve that.

Vertical tire and fender gap doesnt say much as it will all depend on where you have your suspension set at but im right about 8.5" front and 9.5" back.
Gotta lower those numbers…😉

Are you running a full aftermarket coilover lift kit and did you add extra lift with that and if so how much?
I have Ride Shocks coilovers from Accutune. Probably 2.5-3 inch lift from those and was running 37's without any issues.

And you kept that same Accutine Ride Shock 2.5-3 inch coliover lift on top of the Portals as well?
For now. I didnt touch anything suspension wise when doing the portal install.

For now. I didnt touch anything suspension wise when doing the portal install.
So portals at 4.75" of lift plus Shocks at 2.50" for a total of 7.25 that's pretty damn good. Engineering wise I don't know anything lol but look wise I love a lot of gap between the tire and fenders.

Sssoooo. When you go to the dentist and get a filling they always overfill that sucker. Then they get you to bite down on some kinda sheet and grind your teeth. They can now see the high spots and grind those away. Then repeat. Until all clearance issues are gone.

just saying.

She's done! So far drives amazing. Went with Method 709HD 25mm offset and 40x13.5x17 Yokohama Geolandars. Loved the same tire in 37's and they are surprisingly light.

Sooooo, what is the gearing in your axles now and what are the RPM’s you are now getting on the highway?
at 70? at 75? at 80?

I haven’t wheeled with her so I wouldn’t know. But…wifey started really wheeling harder stuff for the first time when we got her portals with a higher reduction and HEAVY 40” Open Country MT tires. And while portals don’t make components stronger as many claim, they do reduce stress on components upstream as long as they’re moving. It took her a year and a half to break a rear axle, and another month or so to break a front axle. With a lot of wheeling in that time frame. And I believe the CV broke due to winching while the front locker was on.

That said I recognize it’s pointless to share my anecdotal thoughts as it seems we’re in agreement that a higher reduction is ideal with the bronco platform. But other members of the forum may find it useful.
Is this the rig you have the Dana ultimate fdu and 60 on ? Or were they stock axles that broke ?

Oh crap. You did break the 32 spline CV. Not what I want to hear but sounds like a very specific case. Did you have to buy a new set or is it rebuildable somehow? Don’t think you can buy just one side at a time. Or did they warranty it?
