Well, let's think about it.I've seen quite a few posts of totaled Broncos and Bronco fires. I know nothing about other vehicles but are our vehicles running with a higher rate of totaling than other vehicles or is this just the average automotive industry rate of incident?
1 - it's an aluminum bodied vehicle. In a lot of cases, the panels get replaced, not repaired.
So the cost to repair is high. Insurance companies don't total based on how bad a wreck looks, but on what cost to repair is compared to what they get out of the vehicle for salvage....IE....whatever costs them the least in the long run. So it's easy for them to total a vehicle & send it to CoPart or whatever to recoup some of their $
2 - it's always going to have more fires than your average vehicle, because a ton of us are running around with extra lights & other mods wired up & while we all think we're good at it, most of us aren't professionals.
And we're probably overloading fuses & relays & all sorts of stuff.
I know I added a fire extinguisher to mine just because of how many wired connections I'd made with lights, ARB compressor, winch, WeBoost & more planned.
