I was going over our Bronco today and noticed some cracking in the paint on the roof. It’s fairly subtle, but it still makes me uneasy. I’m mainly concerned about possible wind noise or related issues.

My first thought was sun exposure. I also considered temperature changes. That said, the climate where I live is pretty mild. Summer temps are usually in the low to mid 90s, and winter lows are typically in the upper 30s. This winter has been even warmer than usual, with most nights closer to the mid 40s.

We do off-road, but we’re fairly careful. There’s very little heavy brush, branches rarely scrape the roof, and rock hits are extremely uncommon. That’s why this caught my attention and made me wonder if something else could be causing it.

Has anyone else noticed similar paint cracking on their Bronco roof? If so, what did it turn out to be. Normal body flex, a paint issue, or something else? Would love to hear your experience.

Welcome to the world of Ford’s MIC top debacle. There are literally thousands of posts in various threads on the topic. Yours looks bad enough they’d probably replace it if it’s still under warranty. Mine’s cracked too, but not that bad or in the same place.

Good luck.

You must be new here.
That’s the top not the paint as pointed out already.

This has extensively been covered for years on this site. Covered under 3/36 warranty only, not under extended warranty.

Being a sponsor who is selling products for the Bronco I hold you to a higher standard than a first time owner for doing your homework first.

Been cracked for awhile it looks like. Again I think the MIC crack problem is much wider spread than we know because I feel many owners haven’t even looked at the top of the MIC. Drive it thru a car wash and never even looked.

I also think the topic has been covered so heavily that many don't even bother to report it here. I'm convinced it will eventually happen to every single MIC top.

Even sponsors can troll... From another OP thread (Is it necessary to strengthen the windshield?) Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? :ROFLMAO:

Is OP seriously asking if people kit their broncos with bullet proof glass for off roading and camping? This has to be a troll or baiting, I refuse to believe someone actually thinks that everybody who goes out for the weekend will be involved a gunfight.

Welcome to the club, that looks worse than mine, which I had replaced just before the 3 year warranty expired.

Pro Tip: Document any and all cracks because Ford will try to deny claim and your dealer will probably drop the ball, it's what they do.

You definitely want to get it replaced under warrantee. There are some folks that don't have this problem, maybe you will get lucky and get a good one. Another options is to get the modular painted top, or aftermarket. I have the TOR top and its been great.

The OP keeps starting threads of any subject that may get responses (and therefore exposure of their name). They could post naked women now and I’d still ignore them. Well, ok…I’d probably check THAT out.
