Jack recommendation for Bronco Raptor

I use a 2-ton Gortech scissor jack. It comes with a height extension and does a great job For my Braptor On 37’s.

UIsing a scissor jack on a braptor is not effective IMO with how much height you have to use to unload the suspension just to get the tire off the ground. The factory OEM setup comes the same way with extensions. You are better off putting that jack in a better much lower location.

Neither photo is of my Raptor. My understanding is that the OEM jack, using the riser, elevates to 19.5”. The Gortech jack raises it to 24”. It’s vastly more robust, stable and well built.

I really just wanted a taller, much better built, more stable version of what the Raptor comes with and to that end, it delivers 100%.

I’m guessing the OEM jack isn’t able to do this (not that i need it to, but kinda illustrates the point).

I also don't see (perhaps someone can explain)why a scissor jack is inherently any worse (or better) then a bottle jack with extensions in a high lift (say > 18 inches) situation. It seems to me either is dependent upon the execution (quality of materials, tolerances, stability of base, consciousness of the user, etc.).

You are correct. It's just that most scissors have larger bases and top plates. So they are empirically better not inherently better.

If you or anyone knows of a similar, compact, hydraulic, bottle jack, of better origin or quality, I'd love to know about it.

Will do! It's one of those things you hope you don't have to use much if at all on the trail so it's a bummer to spend a ton of money on one but when you do need it...

Given 21 inches should be sufficient, I'm leaning towards the PowerBuilt.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the very compact jack I've been referring to (Torin) is plenty SUFFICIENT to do a basic tire change in the field. Less than 11" total max extended height and about 4" of stroke (I don't count adjustable height toward stroke)!

If you stick to traditional jack points MUCH more jack will be needed.

Regardless, a jack that is max height (or stroke) of 21" is wasaaaay more than needed.

That Gortech and kit looks like a one and done to me. I might have to round one of those up.

We just use the factory jack and a block of wood. Wood is great for not slipping and allowing various spacer heights. Only used it a couple times in two years. No way would I give up cargo space or capacity for most jacks. Hydraulic jacks are great until they leak out everywhere.

I’ve been using a Power Mountain TallBoy and a jack pad lately. It’s got a large stable base, attachments to get enough height safely for when the logical jack point isn’t available. packs compactly and rattle free. Doesn’t weigh a whole lot more than OEM. Currently $130.

fate has a way of taking the logical option away from you on trail. the ridiculous amount of flexibility makes the jack/attachments useful for other projects as well.

i have the sergant kit and love it. its the most complete kit for the size it packs. easy to move in and out. but you have to be mindful of your jack points and know how to get creative with the attachments. i use it on the axle or control arms up front.
