Does anyone know if the sub box that Ford installed with a dummy sub and amp in the 2023 Broncos would require the same modification as what the OP went through? I would order to install an 8" sub but want to understand if I have limitations with my system since I received the $250 credit of the sub/amp delete.

the dummy amp and sub are basically the same as this ones that work, they are just missing the internal parts/electronics/speaker cone. However, all the speaker lines, etc are pre ran for you though.

Were any adapters or additional modifications needed to house the dash and kicker panel speakers? Or do the Kickers work in those housings without any issues.

No issues for the kick panel speakers. For the dash speakers, take your wire cutters and clip the screw mount ears in two locations opposite of one another to match the factory speaker layout placement. I used a standard pair of wire cutters for clipping without any issues. The speaker then fits perfectly in place with the existing screw location alignment.

For one more data point I was able to slide my 4" Kicker KSC40s in pretty easily without cutting/breaking off the tabs.

Sounds like my sound journey is the same as yours, replaced rear pods and installed Kicker 6.5"s, added functional Kicker sub and Fusion (OEM) amp, FORSCAN tweaks, and the audio was improved, but still awful. Replaced the kickpanels and dash, and again improved, but still shit. So I just bought the rest of the equipment you listed and will continue to work on it. Thanks for the guide.

Question for the thread:

I didn't see any mention of soundproofing or opening up the panels and floor to apply liberal amounts of dynamat / killmat. Did you do any soundproofing for this build?

I'm asking because I'm planning on popping the rear seats out tomorrow to get at that subwoofer panel and see if I can dampen things down a bit, rattle-wise.

I did not personally, but seen a lot of folks put it down. I'm sure your overall sound will be better, buy my patience with going the slow route was killing me. I was just ready to start riding and listening to some tunes!

Sounds like a great add though, IMO. Post some pics when completed and a rough estimate what that material cost was to install. thanks!

Using these images as guides - looks like the idea is "the more the better".....

You beat me to the punch as I was going comment, buy a couple boxes of kilmat and start reducing external noise.

Oh, so THAT'S why it rattles!

Opened up the panel on my '23 Badlands and noticed the sub assembly is screwed into two 4''x4'' pieces of cloth?

ALso, ZERO dampening on the panel on the speaker side.

No modifications are needed if you remove the plastic trim ring around the sub.
