Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

I haven't had to change a tire in a while, but I had one of the original 2022 Bronco tires get a puncture at the trail head of Wheeler Peak in Taos, NM. Using the factory scissor jack (including the included extension) presented a problem that I'm curious if others have encountered.

I was able to find the front jack point and raise very close to full extension on the jack. I was barely able to get the front tire off the hub, but as soon as I did, the suspension drooped another couple inches, making it impossible to put the spare on. Thanks to a helpful person in the parking lot, I borrowed a second jack to raise the suspension up a couple inches and was able to complete the tire change.

First...does anyone know if I did something incorrect in the process OR have others found the factory jack inadequate for the Sasquatch package? I have the Badlands trim.

Second...I'm now planning to upgrade my jack and like the AGM Scissor Jack HD best so far. There are several other very cool jacks out there, of different types with a variety of opinions to match. What do people have actual tire change experience with that they would recommend? I like the large base, drill attachment, long travel and load range and its efficient size and 25lb weight for the AGM.

There's a little square lift section that goes on top of the jack that I missed when I had to change my tire. Mine actually slid sideways on some wet grass and pinched my arm between the flare and tire. I don't know if you missed this or not; it adds maybe 3"? Some people bring a square block of wood to put the jack on, others get a bottle jack with extensions, etc. Pick your poison.

Alternatives I use.
No problems with either of them.
The bottle jack type lifts my motorhome easily and quickly.
My assumptions were they'd be garbage. They are not.

As mentioned earlier - it appears you did not utilize the jack extension. I have successfully used the factory jack on my Raptor with no issue (although I wouldn't want to make a habit of it vs using my 3 ton hydraulic)

Just in case it helps to show how the extension is used and that the factory jack will work for 35's, here's a picture from a few months back where I had to change a tire on mine:

And the factory jack is actually hard to beat unless you're running exceptionally large tires. No leaks to worry about. Small. Lightweight. Don't replace it just because. It's a perfectly good tool and a lot better than many of the things folks advocate for in terms of reliability.

I mentioned that I used the included extension, and I used the pin that holds it in place to keep it stable. Otherwise I doubt I’d have been able to get the wheel off at all.

Sorry, missed the mention of the extension (so that's what it's called! ). The cheap DYI method is some wood blocks to raise it, the expensive oh-my-god-how-big-this-is way is a bigass floor jack, and the wut way is bottle jacks with extensions (and probably wood blocks to stabilize).

Your photo shows your using the jack in the wrong location, it should be on the frame, the frame has an arrow stamped on it. see the pic above by jofer for reference.
I had no problem using mine at the correct location.

I have used the jack with extension multiple times on pavement and once off road. I've never had a problem with the height. Not sure why your height would change after removing the tire. Sounds like maybe not jacking in the correct location.

I tested the factory jack in my garage and while it does work if used on the frame with the extension on SAS Bronco, it leaves very little extra height and it is apparent it would get overwhelmed in a non-ideal situation such as off-road, or even a gravelly slope on the side of the highway.

Combined with the above it is also apparent that it is constructed as minimally as possible (e.g the base is minimal - indeed all of it is). I simply don’t trust it outside of ideal conditions.

There’s a longish thread about aftermarket jacks in the raptor section. I went with the robustly constructed scissor jack from India…. i’ll see if I can locate it.

it does add to the size/weight of my recovery gear, but I trust it when I’m in backcountry alone. Looks like it’s about half the cost of the one you listed in your first post as well..

The factory jack is generally intended for use of flat level ground. it's there so a manufacturer can say they included a jack. Toyota seems to take jacks a little more seriously.

I've been thinking about one of these, but I'm waiting for more reviews on here or Amazon. It appears to be the same jack sold by Mojab and Owl Sprinter Vans for almost twice the price. As near as I can determine the same factory makes all three. They're just painted different colors.

I'm interested because it will almost replace a farm jack, work as an axle jack and will fit in the unused compartment in the rear.
