I don't know how much would be picked up off the bottom, or missed, pumping out through the fill hole.
Probably not much (thus most was left in there). Still the fluid change they did is at least 1/2 a job - 4/5's probably (i.e. good new fluid with some metallic ladened sludge left in), so much better then not doing it at all.

Torque to yield bolts should never be reused. Once they’ve been stretched, they will never achieve the correct clamping force again.
It’s likely just a mistake in the WSM.
Even a new gasket from Ford comes with new bolts.
@Ducati1098
Could you please tell me if I have the correct part numbers for the M220 rear differential cover?

Gasket and bolts kit: KB3Z4036B
Gasket only: KB3Z4036A
Bolt only: KB3Z4346A
Bolt stud: KB3Z4A322A
Fill plug: 6C2Z4N282AA

I could not find the plastic clips for the brake line. Wondering if they sell that separately.

Thanks in advance for your time

Not sure about your part numbers, but they do not sell the brake clips separately (unless something has changed recently). You have to buy the entire brake line to get the clips, which is why I switched over to stainless clips and studs as noted in my post.

Try this ford dealer site. You can look up the numbers for yourself. It is where I get part numbers. And when you order, they want your vin number to ensure you’re ordering the correct thing. https://www.fordpartsoem.com/

All those look correct. Brake line clip is still not available separately.

If you're concerned about breaking the brake line clips, just pop them off the studs and leave them attached to the brake line.

Thanks to all that chimed in. I really appreciate everyone’s help here.

Finally got around to this just over 10,000 miles. I’ll be sending the motor oil in for analysis. Transfer case and front differential are done. I’m waiting on my rear diff cover to get back from powder coating. Then rear will get flushed. Transfer case was a little dark, but nothing alarming. Front looked pretty gray and had a decent amount of metal on the magnet.

I would recommend doing the Trans fluid as well (especially if it’s an automatic) and replace the pan with a PPE pan so next time you don’t have to remove it. Also on your rear differential cover are you using the factory cover? Or did you upgrade to a cover with a drain plug.

Manual transmission. I plan on draining that too. Just haven’t decided on what to use. I went with BG Syncro Shift in my 2021.

I picked up the Ford Performance diff cover using points a while back. I intended to put it on the Ranger. Turns out the 2020s still had drain plugs on the backside of the pumpkin. Between that and my reluctance to buy the ARB now that it costs $220+. I saw that people were having issues with the FP paint/finish cracking and rusting. So, I preemptively am having it coated by the same pros that did my wheels.

Did my Front and Rear diffs and transfer case for the 3rd time at 30k miles last night, after having done them previously at 3k and 11k.

Despite a few 2+ ft water crossings the fluids all looked fine. Will probably just do this every 30k or so from here on out, along with the transmission fluid.

Refilled diffs with Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140 and T case with Mercon LV.

Has anyone purchased and installed the PPE Dana-44-M220 Rear Differential Cover? Is it any good? I’m seeing cheap pricing at $120 each.

I think the only downfall is there’s no drain plug.

Anyone have experience with Amsoil ATF for the transfer case? It’s actually the fuel efficient versions that’s equivalent to Mercon LV. Just thinking I’ll add it to my order if I’m already getting the diff oil from them.
