Just my observation; when guys here don’t know what they’re talking about, they tend to devolve into troupes such as political nonsense, conspiracies, and other foolishness.

This forum is a place to learn and discuss options. Nothing wrong with being new or not knowing, but when it’s clear that a thread DOES have some members who DO know what they’re talking about, it’s best to read and soak up some knowledge. Ok to ask questions for clarification and whatnot, but beyond that, wish guys would leave the agendas within their own heads.

The OP @popo_patty, @Bmadda, @Snacktime, @mpeugeot, you, and a host of others I’ve failed to mention, either have shops, are hard core wheelers, or hard core DIY wrenchers and share some serious knowledge and experiences on here regularly FOR FREE! It’s great. Hell, even auto journalists and YouTubers hang out here, read the comments from members, then go to publish or make vids. No, everyone isn’t an expert nor needs to be, but when learning, just learn, don’t hijack an informative thread with hot air.

Hope that makes sense?
I shouldn't be in this list, I am not hard core and I don't have a shop (and when I did it was over 20 years ago). Most, if not all, of the people participating in this thread know more about suspension and off-roading than I do.

The humility is admirable.

The work you’ve done on the rack deserves a good call out, so I shared one. You’ve helped a lot of people here.

Maybe you’re the hardcore DIYer…. lol!

Well I am guilty of programming the racks... So it's not him using your hack, it's me, and I have always been willing to teach others how to program them for free. I haven't withheld the information on programming them to make a single dime, but I do allow others to pay me to program them if they don't want to for some reason.

So I guess that you have reason to be upset that others are profiting from the work that you did, and you definitely deserve the credit for hacking your way to making the HOSS 3.0 steering rack upgrade a possibility, because as far as I know, Ford still doesn't support this.
thanks for stepping up and letting folks know. I personally would have rather seen you team up with the superior brand that tests their stuff in racing.

hopefully you didn't sign any agreement with BB, you could get suited.

All of this makes me think the ford performance Gurus should be replaced by competent folks like you and I.

I am under no obligation or agreement, I help everyone equally. However, l do charge for my time when I am providing the tools and the time to do the work. Otherwise, I would be swamped with everyone else wanting me to do it and an angry girlfriend.

@mpeugeot explains the missing link, you set up a harness yet?
Not yet. I just got the wiring diagram for the vehicle so I can really see all the interconnections and have a reference without having to run to the internet all the time. Plus, I still have to put my Ferrari back together... I have too many projects to be doing this full time anyway.

I too have the Fabtech lift, 4' since I was a non-sas to begin. I have also considered purchasing the FT tie rods, but I do not do any hard-core rock climbing. Just some decent trails. So I too wonder is it worth it ?

I am thinking better to have than to have not. I'll keep reading.

Tie rods depend on what you do upstream at the steering rack. I have replaced 1 tie rod going on a year of trail rides. They are not a panic item! Your fine carrying a spare! The steering rack seems to take the bulk of the force.

Good morning
I read the 8 pages of this tred.my question before buying bronco buster stage 3 or 74weld stage 1, $200.00 difference and on the material composition of the bushings. your opinion on the best choice before buying for steering rack 2.0 please your recommendation

The main benefit of replacing passenger housing and adding drivers side bushing is to help support lateral loading and minimize displacements. Lateral loads increase with a lift (increased tie rod angles) and increased wheel size and weight.

the passenger side housing can be machined accurately with tight tolerances to allow for support. The better product will have increased accuracy and improved tolerances. This requires accurate measurements of OEM steering rack since tolerances are dependent on OEM parts. Not sure how broncbuster came up with machining dimensions but 74 weld uses highly accurate robotic measuring system instead of just laser scanning.

the drivers side also needs support but the tolerances are limited by the OEM rack housing which is cast and not precisely machined. Thereby adding a bushing support will never achieve very tight tolerances. This provides the limit conditions a simple bushing support can achieve. Bushing materials and wear are always important. 74 weld seems to have put more thought into this. Bronze for wear surface and UHMW for shock or increased fracture toughness (increased deformation before failure).

the only way to more precisely control bearing support tolerances and increase bearing surfaces is to machine an entire new housing. That is also then an opportunity to improve housing strength by adding thickness or rib structure to carry bending loads.

What kind of harness? Too lazy for reading today.

No offense to anyone involved... On the one hand you got someone whose development process is slamming his rig into stuff and then going, how do we brace against (all) this breakage? On the other hand, you have someone who engineers for (hobbyist? you know you know) professionals slamming into things and resolves/corrects his designs over time. I'm generally poo poo on the influencer platter, but I choose to trust the engineered approach, even when it does cost more.

Hi
When I buy it is only for the best quality and not a price. It's my choice. But humbly I consult before paying for a product. I bought BRONCOBUSTER parts but with each new purchase I inform myself and benefit from the experience of other people. The language and origin does not matter. I have traveled around the world and visited 37 American states, and all accepted my money. But I decide where I should spend it.
thanks for your advices
