It essentially makes the rack the weak point. Think of the stock tie rods as a fuse. You want the fuse to be the weak point. Carry extra.

I guess I am going to upgrade and see what happens. All of the fails I have seen are with 35" and above tires with lockers and difficult trails.

I'm late to this topic, but I traded in my 2dr JK Rubicon, which had brand new 37's on it, that I didn't want to just give away, so I stuck them on my Bronco not long after owning it. That's the only reason I put 37's on mine. 
I'm running the stock 2.0 rack, but someone on this forum suggested I install the Rough Country Delrin bushings and their HD tie rod kit. I have done so and wheeled twice since taking ownership of my Bronco. Everything is still tight and together, but I'm not saying I'm not going to not upgrade it some more next year! I'm debating on buying the 74 Weld Stage 1 kit in the Spring and they recommend the RPG Heim Joint Tie Rods, if you're over a 2" lift? With the SAS package and my Metalcloak Game Changer lift, I'm right at a total of a 4.5" lift. I'd like to say money's not an object, but unfortunately, it is, so what would yall recommend? Seems like @Snacktime knows a good bit on this subject and other than the number of doors, I'd say mine and the OP, @routhless are similar builds, so it may benefit both of us?
I definitely have a small fortune in both our Bronco's, but mine has more into it, than my wife's. I'll listen to any advice about upgrading my rack to tackle the rocks of northern Alabama, (not that I'm a hardcore rock crawler), most of time around here, you're going to have to drive over a few to get to the better trails
This is our (wife & I) from this past weekend. I'm definitely not trying to tear anything up and I do not beat the hell out of it on any obstacle. Just a new learning curve, since I'm coming from the TJR & JKR side of offroading
