So the original Hammerbuilt reinforcement plate that I already purchased will not work with the Rapter hinges or the soon to come Hammerbuilt upgraded hinges?
Correct because the holes are in different places and the bends are in the wrong spots. Hammer built came up with the initial design before the Raptor hinges were available.

I believe those will match the Raptor hinges in height and hole placement, and that the 1st gen Hammer Built plate won't work...I know the pain of having to purchase multiple ones! So far I bought a RC one and a BAMF one...sigh...

Sure keep adding weight to that tail gate 37s, high lift, gas cans what could go wrong🙈
Ideally a bumper mounted tire carrier would work best ,until all the stories about the rear rail failing in towing or backing into a rock .Good luck but I think your asking for trouble if you go offroad with all that on the tailgate.

My Method wheel weighs 25...OEM 35 tire is 54...the bracket, which bolts to the hinges (hinge weight doesn't count against the total because they bolt directly to the pillar) is 15. That is 94 pounds. An MFC can is 6...the can carrier Hammer Built is working on should come it at around 5. That is 105...and 5 gallons of gas is 30. Ford max weight on our tailgate is listed at 133. I'd only be 2 pounds over, at 135, and I am confident the much stronger hinges, in conjunction with the tailgate plate, will handle that total weight (at least those extra two pounds). Additionally, the MFC carrier will bolt directly to the hinges through the plate, independent of the tailgate, so the 40ish pounds of MFC/carrier/gas weight is not impacting the tailgate the way a heavy spare would be. For comparison, the BAMF bracket weighs about 25, and they have run a much heavier 37 on their gate (and are testing twin Rotopax carriers) and have reportedly had no issues after a lot of hard miles.

Now if someone wants to throw a 37 Nitto Ridge Grappler on a true bead lock wheel, and an additional spare tire carrier to fit the 37, and a bracket, etc., THAT would be pushing it (IMHO). Even so, the Raptor comes with a heavier 37, the big hinges, and a tailgate reinforcement bracket. I imagine that the Raptor, with the exact same tailgate we have, has a higher weight limit listed than our Broncos do.

IMPO a tailgate reinforcement solution is a bridge gap until the bumper aftermarket matures.
I like the JCR bumper setup...but at 3k I had to pass...and the tire on a swing out carrier blocks a lot of visibility. Compromises with any setup.

Great insight and well done. I just put on my Hammerbuilt reinforcement a few days ago and wish I would have seen this before I ordered since this is a great enhancement. May be worth getting just the modified HB plate if Tyson makes that possible for those of us who have the Gen 1 reinforcement.
BTW.. love your CC beast. I have a beautiful 115 lb female in the same finish and she fully approves of the new bronco!

Blown away by all the positive feedback from everyone!
Rest assured, all existing Hammer Built fans will get a special upgrade discount when we release the Bronco Raptor Reinforcement+HD Hinges! Additionally, the accessory arm and antenna bracket will carry over.

Tomorrow I will make a special preorder page for the new bracket that will make you eligible to receive the first batch of hinges when they are completed. We are expecting pricing for the hinges to be around $299 per pair.

(Ultra light Sceptre/Jery can mount will be released next week!)

Agreed, there are always compromises. Agreed again the JCR version is sweet, but $$ and I’m sure it’s heavy.

I plan to purchase Hammerbuilt’s upcoming version with the HD hinges in the effort to keep things simple & light.

I think it will be at least another year until proper swing gate bumper options mature.
I had a High clearance Bushmaster with a dual swingout from CBI on my old Tacoma, it was awesome. That said, one of my goals for the Bronco is to keep things as light as possible. So the Hammerbuilt “HD” option could be the sweet spot.

Yes, although I’ve not been able to see it in the wild. Nor have I seen images of E1’s bumper with their jerrycan mount.

I’m keeping one eye open for what HeftyFab comes up with.

I too would love the idea of a swing out bumper but it seems like there are so many obstacles to overcome with one. Usually, like the JCR bumper, it puts the spare high to the point of obstructing a lot of your vision out of the rear window. Also, because the pivot point is so far from the weight of the tire or the spare cans, the pivot assembly itself has to be super overbuilt... and that makes the overall weight of the bumper way up there. Then there's the need for greaseable pivots, and then overbuilt latches that don't soon become rattle traps after a few hundred miles. If a manufacturer comes out with a step design in the bumper so that the spare is located lower and is still able to pivot out that would be appealing. Then there's the cost... A decent swing out bumper with all the things we'd like to have such as a spare tire carrier and a provision for spare fuel cans would be at least $3,000. Additionally, for folks like me that have dogs that go wheeling, having to stop for every break and then opening the rear of the vehicle in three stages gets old. The hammer built design is a good addition for someone who wants to keep the weight fairly low at about 135 lb all in with a 35 and an aftermarket wheel (including 6 gallons of gas). Our factory tailgate limit is 133, but I imagine with the Raptor hinges and the tailgate reinforcement plate 135 is not an issue.
