Tyson is a good dude I have two of his tail gate reinforcements already. So does this new plate use different mounting holes than the gate? I would like that. I do already run 37’s which is why I went with the reinforcement in the first place. Thank you and Tyson for keeping things moving I see this as a good upgrade with the Raptor hinges and reinforcement

I received my Hammer built tailgate plate last night and will be installing it this weekend. I'll post some pictures.
I'm interested in a rear plate that will bolt to standard OEM Bronco tailgate hinges, for the purpose of mounting the 2 gal Rotopax Gas cans,
to the right of the spare. Like some Jeeps I've seen. Is that what you bought?

And these are the additional brackets that can be mounted to the plate to which you can mount things like an antenna or Max tracks or rotopax if you're not a fan of a fuel carrier in a jerry can shape or a Scepter:

OP - What did you paint your Braptor hinges with? I’m assuming they’re sold unpainted.

OP - What did you paint your Braptor hinges with? I’m assuming they’re sold unpainted.
I bought some touch up paint/primer/clear coat from Amazon. It was color matched...Scratches Happen brand. The hinges come coated in black, but I went overboard and sandblasted mine because I tried to put some epoxy primer on them first and that didn't end up as I expected. Note that if you buy the hinges, they're only sold as an assembly, and they come with the pillar brackets which you won't need to use because they are the exact same part number as the pillar brackets that are already on your vehicle. You will just need to unbolt the hinges with those three m8s from the pillar bracket and paint the hinges themselves. I highly recommend making some sort of a plate to maintain hinge alignment because they need to remain parallel to one another to avoid having your tailgate bind when it opens. I just went to Home Depot and bought a piece of sheet metal and made my own. If I had to do it over again I probably would have just let the people that sandblasted my hinges powder coat them and I would have done them in Black to match my bumper. Most of the hinges you won't see anyway. Here is the plate that I made to maintain my hinge alignment, and a comparison of the wimpy OEM hinge in the Raptor hinge side by side:

Can anyone confirm the hinge part number on the non-raptor models, from the looks of this it appears the lower hinge it the same? Just want to double check before dropping $

I'm not understanding why you'd need different/Raptor hinges?
I have the Hammerbuilt support. After studying it, I can't see the need for anything else as it takes care of the aluminum tailgate being "weak".
Is the hinge "pin" itself considerably larger on the raptor hinges? It doesn't look any larger from the photo.

I have them posted in this exchange....

Upper and lower numbers are different... And they sell each as an assembly. You do not need to use the pillar bracket that comes in the assembly because the ones on our non-raptor Broncos are the same part numbers.

No one "needs" the Raptor hinges but they are considerably stronger and the tailgate plate made for them bolts to the hinges themselves and not through to the tailgate. If the goal is to be able to put more weight on the tailgate, stronger hinges are ideal. The Raptor uses them for a reason...

Hey great job, OP.

I'm still fairly surprised there are ZERO entries into the re-hinge aftermarket, considering how many things have been built to add weight back there. I guess it'll just take some more time, but this is still the best option by a long shot!

First, let me say that I think this is a great idea. I wish I had known this was an option before I bought my HammerBuild support. I worry that the tailgate may not hold up with the 35 SAS tire, rotopax, propane tank, and/or maxtrax that I may eventually want to attach. However, it does seem like there is some redundancy between the added support the Hammerbuilt provides and where the Raptor hinges are beefed up. I'm surprised that there is no increase in the pin size or any of the metal directly adjacent to the hinge/pin. The added support from the Raptor hinges seems minimal.
