Insiders can be wrong, and plans can change.
Until there's an actual official announcement from Ford, I would consider it unlikely or speculation at best.
Which is why I used the Bronco pickup truck as an example. Maybe Ford thought about it, but it appears even if they did at one point, they decided against it. Either way, there was no official statement from Ford.

Sure, but by that logic, there's also no official statement from Ford of a next gen Bronco either.


Yes, plans change all the time (especially at Ford), but this is the current plan.

That's exactly my point lol nobody knows when or if there will be anything.
Look back at all the articles saying 25MY was going to be the next gen bronco or have a hybrid/EV option. Now it seems any type of big change won't be until sometime after 27MY

I guess I just prefer to have confirmed information from Ford as opposed to speculative plans that may change.
I don't see the point in even reading an article like this, when a lot of the time the topic doesn't come to fruition. But to each their own

Articles like this have kind of taken over the vacuum left by the demise of the big auto shows and the concept cars the majors used to display at them and then supposedly judge the reaction of the public.... Now I guess they're counting clicks on articles like this?

Just because you don't see Lincolns doesn't mean they aren't out there lol. Of Lincoln's entire lineup, Navigator sell the least.

Your point being what? Lincoln sold 106k vehicles last year with 22,000 being Navigators. The other 3 vehicles decreased in sales and the Navigator was the only one that saw a jump.
Ford sold just under 2,100,000 vehicles themselves with the bronco being 146,000 of them.

I’d be willing to bet if this came out that it would be gone in 2-3 years. Lincoln isn’t competing with the Range Rover or G-Wagon types of vehicles.

You said it wouldn't sell, backing up that prediction by saying all you see is Navigators, which 1) only makes up 1/4 of the brand's sales, and 2) would actually support another pricier model.

Most luxury brands are set to add Range Rover/G-wagen type models soon.

People complain when Lincoln has no new product, and then when they're working to add some, it's "this will fail"...

There's nothing wrong with a Range Rover fighter on the Ranger T6 platform (Significant irony here given that Ford once owned Land Rover and then foolishly sold it to Tata). Actually, the Everest should be the beginning of a Lincoln Range Rover more than the Bronco. At any rate, such a vehicle can NOT have any resemblance whatsoever to the Bronco.

You remember- the Lincoln truck. And followed a few years later by the Mark LT. The former didn't even sell 3500 units, while the latter did better in its few years.

At least they aren't dumping a ton of money into a model that is abandoned before it sees the light of market day like Lamborghini just did...

I think the Blackwood failed because they differentiated it too much where it counted - the bed. It had the split barn door tailgate and carpeted bed, making it essentially useless as a truck.
Conversely, the Mark LT's purpose was actually an attempt at giving Lincoln-Mercury dealers some volume sales as they were transitioning the lineup at the time.
It wasn't a good effort, though, as it was literally a rebadged F-150 with a different grille insert, tailgate applique and different grade of leather.

I do sometimes wonder how a better effort (i.e. a Navigator front clip and dash/interior, with unique taillights) would go, but I think it'd run into the issue that has also come up - that many construction company owners that could afford such a product like to be seen in the "same" truck as the employees (even if it's a top of the line one, vs a work truck).

I'm sorry, but for $100k+, I'm taking a 5.0L supercharged V8 Defender with air suspension that feels stable at a 100mph on the road and is still very capable off road. You can say whatever you want about the Land Rover product and I will most likely agree with you, but I have driven both and a V8 Defender is a hell of a truck.

@michelle227 , you had me at Lincoln Blackwood. What a majestic beast with its carpeted truck bed and 2wd only option. Who could have seen it failing? It was really Lincoln mis-reading the King Ranch market. Yes, truck owners would spend more $$ to have luxury features in their truck, especially some that basically live in their truck for work. Do those same people want a luxury vehicle that can't perform as a truck...no.

That V8 Defender is also faster than a Bronco Raptor, if that matters.

Lincoln's problem is that it's an MBA car division. They're hoping that a dressed up version (not substantially different) is enough to capture some of the luxury car market share. They don't actually seem interested in competing head to head with Land Rover or Mercedes...it's expensive and risky (the kryptonite of any MBA).

Not sure why the Bronco Raptor would be the comparison of a potential Lincoln Bronco. I would think the "Base" vehicle would be an OBX with Sasquatch - though stripped of the m210 and front locker and replaced with 20" wheels. Painted HT that is non-removable but with moon roof, leather, interior refinement. Such a vehicle could have an entry point of $65k.

It might have its niche. Plenty of people will never take the doors or top off, so they could nix that feature in favor of civilization and offer it with a V-8 to irritate the common Bronco folk. Lincoln doesn't sell many cars as it is but they probably make a lot more money on the few they do sell. If they can squeeze designing it in cheaply with the G7 Bronco work, it wouldn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Tad and Muffy are seriously going to remove their doors and roof panels just to show up for cocktails at the to country club?!
