Found a deal on a used Mishimoto intercooler for $300 used. He claims all is great and upgrading because he’s going high mount.

I haven’t really researched much but timing is convenient as I will soon have my front end apart putting on my BAMF bumper, winch, BD squadrons, etc.

I’ve done minimal research. Price seems great. What about actual performance? And should I go ahead and get the downpipes to make install easier while she’s torn apart? Originally I was considering CVF and I could buy new intercooler and pipes for around $1200. New pipes from Mishimoto is about $900 so all in I’d be close to the same dollars unless I lucked out on some used ones for a deal.

Appreciate your feedback.

I have the Mishimoto intercooler and very satisfied however I did the AFE charge pipes and Apollo 3" Cat-Back exhaust at the same time. Noticeable improvement doing all three upgrades...not sure if you'd notice much difference doing just the cooler. The Mishimoto cooler will mate-up to the factory charge pipes without issue if you decide to wait.

Go for it! That and a downpipe are the best performance upgrades imho…

I installed the Mishimoto intercooler and pipes a couple of months ago on my 2.3, the biggest plus that I have noticed is the lack of heat soak in hotter weather. It also complimented the other mods that I had previously done such as cat back exhaust, FP tune and cold air intake. I'm happy with the puchase.

Sounds like this may work out in my favor. Meeting up tomorrow to buy.

Anything unique or special I should be on the lookout for? Plan on inspecting all welds, inlets, etc to make sure there aren’t any cracks or damage.

Everything checked out. Made the deal. Seller was a cool guy. We talked shop for an hour before getting back on the road to come home.

Need to start searching for a deal on the charge pipes now. Let me know if someone has some for sell for a good price.

Does the front bumper need to come off if you're not installing a high mount intercooler? Or can you still get to it from underneath the front skid plate?

Did you get an extra set of the blue collars that bolt on the intercooler? If so, are you willing to sell them? I need a set.

Good eye.

I have 2 sets but they aren’t identical. The small ones (loose) are for the stock Ford charge pipes. The larger ones (attached) are for the Mishimoto charge pipes.

Honestly I was a little confused the way he explained it but the jist was he had to buy the extra collars because the way he upgraded from intercooler to intercooler + charge pipes.

When I look on the Mishimoto website I see they have a few different charge pipe kits but they appear to include the necessary collars at first glance. But I haven’t dug into details.

All that jabbering to say I may be interested in selling a pair of them once I know they are truly extras and I won’t need them when I convert to the upgraded pipes. Hope that makes sense.
