E load vs C load tires - what's your pick?

Haven't read this entire thread, and I'm NOT trying to be cute, but I chose/choose tires for my BRapter(s) based on their road-noise level, if that can be determined.

I ran C D and E over the years.

E is excellent for rock crawling because the side walls are thicker than yo mamma. Ran those on my jeep for many years. They are tho not so good on HWY and specially snow. My E AT3s were terrible on snow.

C is great for snow wheeling super lightweight. Overall great for offroad. Can be kinda good for rock crawling if you are mindful about the anemic side walls.

D is a good compromise.

After driving a Tacoma with E rated tires, I ordered a set of Toyo RT Trails D rated. At 35 psi those E rated tire are pretty harsh even with plush suspension. The D rated at 40psi tires do great on the highway and so far haven't been sliced open on the trail.

I just drove my Bronco home today from the shop where they did a few things including new wheels and tires. The E-rated tires were no problem on pavement up to 55 mph. We'll see how they do in other conditions.

Availability/terrain/rubber compound/ and throttle application all are factors. Tires aren't all the same, load ratings are not an equalizer.

D load. Way better than the factory GYs. Might as well have been driving with 4 rolls of Charmin on the wheels for as durable as they were. I swapped around 35k miles as I was tired of slicing them with only ~18PSI on what are more or less rough passenger car roads here in AZ.

My Destination 275-70/18 at 33-36 psi. are better than Blizzak DMV2 in all winter conditions (gonna toss thwm.oit with 80% tread) and better ride and cornering that Michelin LTX Trail that i gifted to tire guys. I shocked. Also corners way better than any Bronco has a righ to even with rear sway bar. which I dont have at the moment.

I had E rated 35" KM3's for about 1-1/2 years and you could tell they were stiff but I've gotten used to E rated tires the last 20 years so no big deal. Then I went to 37" KO2's that are C rated for the last 1-1/2 years and they really feel nice. So the extra sidewall helps but the C rated is definitely smoother. One thing I noticed, the E rated tires would go up maybe 1 or 2 degrees in daily driving, the C rated tires go up 3-4 degrees in daily but part of that could be the 37 vs 35, who knows. I would still probably buy whatever tire I got the best price on and live with the ride like I've been doing.
