They're referring to high-speed USB cables, AKA USB-C 3.2, most likely. Pretty much any USB-C cable capable of thunderbolt will be a good candidate to ensure there's no lag when streaming HiFi.

I did a Samsung S9 super compact velcroed to bottom of HVAC console so it's pretty much invisible....I did change its EQ setting don't recall exactly what to.

OP should have no playback quality issues especially from USB unless is low speed .....I got two high speed ones was not cheap relatively.
soooooo is the consensus that android provides better sound by simply not being apple carplay?

I doubt that. Did you check player EQ setting, data cable?

Never likes the closed Apple ecosystem then Android went crazy just use it as streaming interface in Bronco with nothing on it except streaming apps.

Use Huawei and Harmony OS dual SIM as daily.....total control over sharing and permissions plus the devices are very high grade.

This is an open air vehicle not an orchestra hall. In the real world we all have 99 problems and this ain’t one of them.

Any USB certified cable is good enough for a short run. Just make sure it has the USB logo.

A note about any cables carrying a digital signal. This means USB, HDMI, Ethernet (Cat5). If you have a signal at the other end you're good. The receiving device reconstructs the digital signal before doing any processing.

High end audio stores got hooked on selling high end cables when everything was analog. Then the cable or wire MIGHT make a difference. But they don't make any difference with digital signals. There may be a difference in construction quality which may be worth paying for. But electrically there's no difference as long as they are licensed by USB (USB Implimenters Forum, Inc) or HDMI (HDMI Licensing Administrator, Inc.)

In short, if it's a digital signal and the equipment works, your' good to go. You won't get any improvment by using higher end cables. Higher end cables will let you run the cable a longer distance and that's about it.
Good explanation. The only difference regarding "higher end cables" is that they cost more.

Incorrect some devices are very sensible to cable bandwidth plus they get micro breaks if I am,Ed or bent too much. I was replacing cables every month until I bought $35 one then no issues.

Most people don't realize the EQ on their devices player even exists also that good streams have 3-4 bit rate band width options....both have a huge impact. Then there's mobile data carriers ripping off clients with data throttling, often at peak times or when in area with old infrastructure so do a speed test when have issues as well, both will kill sound.
