E load tires are way overkill

Unpopular opinion: Stop putting E-load tires on your daily-driven midsize rigs. 🛞

E-load tires are designed to carry massive towing weights on heavy three-quarter-ton heavy-duty trucks. When you put that ultra-stiff carcass on a lighter midsize truck or SUV, a few annoying things happen:

• Your suspension can’t compress properly over small bumps, giving you a harsh, ride on the highway.
• The extra rotating mass saps your acceleration.
• Your gas mileage takes a nosedive.

When you pull up the data on SimpleTire, modern C-load and Standard Load tires put up with the abuse just fine.

I'm a Load Range E user by accident (formerly a Toyo Open Country RT Pro LRC user - road debris + defects, in a pinch, necessitated whatever the local shops had available). I'm using the Continental Terrain contact AT in 315/70/r17, and while I notice the slightest bit of stiffness and weight during acceleration at times, I have no complaints and dare I say my daily driving experience has improved. But I also acknowledge that this is a rolling brick, and speed/fuel efficiency will never happen, especially with Sasquatch gearing

Don’t put bits and pieces from the tires into your shocks. They tend to get stuck in the valving holes and cause improper compression. For some strange reasons the rubber particles seem to move more freely during rebound. Interesting phenomenon to say the least.
