Less engine wear with premium fuel

Use to seek out Shell stations as when I had my LS408 Camaro it ran great on Shell 91. Plus like it’s been said they use legit good additives in their fuels. But recently Shell has disappeared from my area in Eastern Nebraska and replaced by Amoco stations. They do carry 93 but I haven’t ran that in my Bronco. I trusted Shell gas and am pretty disappointed that they disappeared. I do seek out stations that are 91 ethanol free gas.
Not sure how the Bronco would run on the 10% ethanol blend 93 in my area. I’ve always steered clear of ethanol if possible.

Remember when Amoco had the clear sight glass fitting on the pump handle so you could "See the difference in AMOCO Ultimate!"
I remember watching it flow and remembering how water-clear it looked.

No, you can only run straight E85 with a custom tune.
You can blend some pump E85 with 93 though. Typical rule of thumb is to not go more than 30% ethanol. So it would be like E30 for example.
The stock calibration (including the FP tune) will only handle so much fuel adjustment.

I'm going to try e85 and see how it compares. I typically get BJ's 93 (not top tier) and I haven't seen any differences, but I am not a gear head and don't measure stuff, other than if I can catch the guy/girl who pissed me off with some stupid driving stunt and mess with them a bit. That is not anecdotal evidence but real life evidence!

It’s a more closely guarded secret than the Colonel’s 11 herbs and spices. Just like Afton/Lubrizol/Infineum/Oronite aren’t gonna say what’s in the additive packs of all the oil on the market. Proprietary secrets.

No, 2.7's can run full E85 with stock fuel system/turbos and have fuel system left to spare (as long as you have a custom tune)

Once I upgraded turbos, I ran out of fuel so I had to install 3.5L F150 port injectors to run full E85.

I run the Shell v-power/93 E85 - but I like to get the non-ethanol 100% gasoline when I can find it (usually out of state). No surprise, usually get higher gas mileage with fuel that is 100% gas instead of 85% gas.

You will always get lower mpg with any EtOH blend (apples to apples of course ) as it has significantly less energy per unit amount. That's the surprising connundrum of EtOH, it contains far less energy but with a proper tune enables an engine to make way more power for all of the plethora of reasons I listed above.

Same here in Central CA. You can go to the casinos or grocery stores and get cheap gas, but it's non-"Top Tier" and it definitely runs like crap most of the time.

I haven't noticed a big difference in Chevron, Shell, or Valero (the big 3 where I live). There are a few P66 stations starting to pop up though, which are Top Tier, but I don't have enough tanks on them to notice.

How do we feel about Mobil's 93 octane premium fuel? That's what I always fuel up with since there's one with great pricing on the way home from work for me ($3.49/gal, southeast MA). Plus I do their rewards program and get free gas every now and then.

I use it, seems like it works fine,, but i got no real comparison, ill have to try the shell and see if i notice anything...

So far I have figured out two of the eleven secret ingredients.
Salt, pepper. I am pretty sure I am close to cracking the third. Then only eight more to go.

No, sorry I know that was confusing.
You only can with a custom tune.
But if you have a custom tune, the fuel system is capable of full E85.
Other ecoboosts this is not possible because they only have direct injection, instead of direct and port like the 2.7

Without a custom tune, anything over ~30% ethanol and your engine will not run good or at all lol
