. Additionally the E shifter has a Servo inside that will put the shift selector into park when you open the door and it's in gear or you take your seatbelt off and open the door. Ford added the safety mechanism for idiots that don't know how to drive.

That was one of the more annoying features of our Gladiator. That and the anemic V6.

I always thought the locked doors while moving had to do with it helping keep doors from flying open when in an accident.
