I learned in Sales it should be “treat people the way they want to be treated”

That is the platinum rule... I want to be treated like royalty; I want you all to loyally pay me 20% of your income. This in my opinion is where the platinum rule breaks down. Many people have an unreal expectation of how they want to be treated. This expectation is often framed by words about what they deserve. It is never framed by what they have earned.
