I still don't understand why you are only asking for a 5-year warranty. Some state laws provide for more than that (regardless of factory warranty).
Dude, I'm trying to do SOMETHING here with this grassroots effort. Everyone has an opinion on what a solution should be. I'd take anything over 3/36. Just sayin.

Yeah, I'm not trying to crap on you - your website is great and appreciated. I just think you're selling short what Ford ought to do here. These tops can crack at any time and mileage because they're garbage.

Yeah, an extended warranty doesn’t really cut it unless it’s a true lifetime warranty that covers replacement regardless of age or mileage. Beyond that, Ford needs to address the design flaws with the MIC top and replace the cracking tops with the updated version—or at least compensate owners so they can upgrade to a hardtop that actually holds up, whether that’s one of the OEM painted tops or an aftermarket option. It’s unlikely they’ll go that route, but honestly, that’s the only way to make things right for people who spent $50K+ that suffers from a serious design flaw.

Based on anecdotal information from this forum, I think it's safe to say:

The majority of MIC tops are not "defective"
The environment has little to do with it
There is little evidence to show the defects are anything more than cosmetic
Some people are unlucky

🤠
I'm a member of Bronco Nation on Facebook that has 155k members so far more than this forum and I can assure you that there are a lot of people with MIC top issues. There is 100% widespread evidence that points to lots of defective MIC tops. None of us can say if it's a majority or minority but it's fair at this stage to say it's definitely a widespread issue as I've seen so many FB posts on people showing photos with cracks. There's such overwhelming evidence at this stage that I don't understand why anyone would even bother to refute that it's a big issue.

You can't be serious. No component of the vehicle gets a lifetime warranty. The MIC top isn't going to be the first.

Look Kia had 2.5 mil complaints on the oil filter housing that cracks and NHTSA said they wouldn’t issue a recall because users must be over tightening the filter. The logic was it left the factory and worked, even though it could crack just from cold weather. I imagine the same logic will apply to the MIC top too.

New MIC tops are cracked at the time of delivery to dealership lots.

Yeah, mine lives outside, but that doesn't explain cracking weeks after I got the second replacement. One cracked in summer, one cracked in winter, and one was junk upon arrival. The thing these tops do best is crack.
In fairness, they're also good at scratching. 😂

Are sharp edges inside common? Both mine had interior finishes around the windows sharp enough to draw blood. Just ask my kids! I know Hyundai recalled tons of cars for sharp flaked chrome on the door handles so maybe this is also a safety issue?

Some of these trucks with multiple cracked tops makes me wonder if there is something out of straightness with the quarter panels and just the act of bolting the top down is somehow bowing it. It really seems odd that so many tops are fine, but some trucks crack every top they get.
I had thought along those lines a while back, but replacement tops are arriving at dealer with cracks before even being taken out of the crate. I feel it’s something with the composite during manufacturing. I had a 21 with not a single crack but I already had to replace the one on my 23. Really hoping Ford comes up with a solution for out of warranty roof problems.

Oh I know it's not going to happen, but if Ford isn't going to actually fix the design flaw, they should be required to keep replacing them. I've seen people needing MIC hardtop replacements on Bronco's that aren't even a year old yet. Getting it replaced under warranty doesn't help much, because it's just going to happen again. It's inexcusable that they haven't even acknowledged the issue, let alone address it.

This.

Every time I see someone brush this issue off or rush to defend Ford, I can’t help but think one of two things is happening:

  1. They’ve been lucky enough not to be affected by it yet, so they’re choosing to bury their heads into the sand and ignore the problem.
  2. They’re a Ford employee trying to minimize how real and widespread this issue actually is in public discussions.

Those with an issue that find a forum where said issue is discussed tend to be vocal. Thus, it's a self-selected sample which may not accurately represent the ownership base.

As such, one needs to be careful in correspondence or litigation how the data sample is parsed.

Even before I rolled the F-Type, I can tell you that we only had a small percentage of the 440 manual trannies as members on the Jag forum to which I belong. My Spider forum is small as well.

Remember that the true enthusiast is a small segment of owners and we nitpick the hell out of our vehicles while the masses may not even notice the issue...much less raise hell about it.

Meh. I heard the same BS in 2012 regarding the MT82 transmission when many of us started having problems well before the class action lawsuit. I've owned nearly all the brands over the decades and have been a member of so many automotive forums and Ford has by far the most apologists for bad products. It's like Henry Ford delivered some of your children or something lol. Defiantly one of the more bizarre things I've encountered over the years on the internet but I expect a lot of the blue oval loyalists are old dogs that simply refuse to learn new tricks.

I don't have any major issues (pending recall lol) with my Bronco but I purposely waited until 2025 to get mine to avoid the MIC top as I know how Ford operates and they will never likely fix the tops.
