Are we talking Home Depot wall sealer foam or somethingSpecial?The black plastic was used in place of the foam pieces that the factory puts in behind the big electrical connector. I glued them in trying to make it airtight. I also used spray foam to seal the area where the body clips pop in and where the foam is that allows wiring to pass thru up high under there.
The amp is located just in front of the center console more like where the cupholders are.

How did all that sound deadening work? Plug the port?I read a lot on polyfil and I'm not convinced it works. I also tried filling the sub enclosure in my FoST and heard no difference, so I didn't bother with the Bronco and I have no complaints with it!

I just did 16-17 sq ft sound deading inside out of the enclosure doubling it up on the exterior plus did the sheet metal and final 3-4 sq.ft on floor. Left port open. No rattles sound decent for cheap MB Quart sub.Great I guess!

Yes, I epoxied in a piece of plastic similar to the enclosure material...no foam fill! lol
I have been thinking of doing the same with raw drivers and a low QTS because of the small enclosures in the kick panels. I know most of these drivers are 3+ inches in depth. Where you able to easily fit them and use the factory grills?Late to the conversation but wanted to share my experience for what it's worth. Main issue has to do with airspace in the kick panel of the bronco as to why hard to get decent midbass. Car speakers are predominantly designed to work in larger door cavity. FYI, attached photo of passenger side where you can see the openings but can still be sealed up somewhat.
In my quest I started to look at speaker TS parameters, in particular lowest Fs and QTS. I am no expert so those in the chime in on the technical, but in small air space a low QTS and Fs driver is an indicator of a speaker that will play lower frequency in small air space.
I guessed on the airspace in the kickpanel at approximately .2 cubic feet then started looking at drivers and found the following at Madisound and with their help identified the following:
SB Acoustics SB17MFC-4 will play down to 85Hz in .2 cubic feet
Morel CAW634 3db down at 80Hz
Satori MW16P-4 or MW16TX-4
Scan-speak 18W/4531G00 3db down at 80Hz
Scan-speak 18WU/4741T00 3db down at 85Hz
Sealed up what I could, purchased the SB17MFC-4 for testing. Made some adapters tuned with dsp, band passed frequency to 80-400Hz and what do you know, magic.... midbass out of the bronco. Happy with the results and knowing I was heading in the right direction, moving on to upping the wattage (300 watts a side) to the kick panels so I stepped up to the Ciare HWG160-4 speakers. I am after SQ so I like headroom. If anyone is interested, I have the SB Acoustics SB17MFC speakers with custom adapters listed on ebay.
