Bad struts, not covered under recall.

It would be a shame if your reservoir happened to fall off due to poor welds/corrosion/rust. It would be a shame if Ford had to replace it under recall in that situation…

It’ll get replaced regardless once parts are out for the recall.
It falling off now won’t change anything.

No leaking that I saw. I drive the same route daily to work. The other day coming down a particularly rough hill, it felt like the rear end was coming off the ground. Our roads suck, so I never take that hill too fast anyway. I ended up going about 10mph to keep it from completely going crazy.

On the highway, about 45-50 is about all you can do before rough spots will cause it to go all over the road.

Seriously, been driving for about 40 years, and have never seen anything like it.

Very odd to lose dampening so quickly. One of your posts above you mention bumps nearly sending you into the ditch...any chance your rear track bar bushings could be toast or loose bolt?

I replaced my shocks with Bilstein 6112. Rides great now. The stock shocks and springs were under sprung and I would bottom out constantly off-road and drag my belly pan skids all the time.

Buying take offs that have the same problem would be a waste of money.
They aren’t going to warranty or recall multiple sets for one vehicle lol

No I mean just to so he spend the minimum and be able to drive it until Ford has the parts for the recall.

I do. I brought the letter with me. They said it’s not the issue that’s covered under the recall.

Take a hammer and knock off the reservoir, it’ll be covered then!!

First, as @PWillette suggests, I would make sure and know the issue(s); perhaps the shocks have gone bad because something else is wrong? Or it's something else?

Second, the value of the replacement rear shocks is about $750 give or take, given you'll install them. If you could score some Fox front/rear takeoffs for about that, you really wouldn't have lost any money and you'd have better shocks to boot.

If Ford didn't have the recall, you'd still have the cost to replace, so I would just look at it as a cost of ownership of a 4x4. We've all tempted fate buying one of those... lol

I'll be removing my sasq. coilovers in a week or two. They have 2K miles on them. In case you want to wait I'll sell them for cheap. My build date is after recall period as well.

I’ve considered the Eibach Pro 2.0. Perhaps the Bilstein 6112 should be considered too. Changing them myself is easy. Been working on cars forever.

Just not happy with a suggested 1500.00 bill for something they’ll replace even if they’re not bad, when the time comes.

We have two broncos, and enjoy the heck out of them.

Change the Struts then put old ones back on when the Recall is available ! Only way to get a set of free struts from Ford in your case.

Here's what I'm doing, mine are on the recall list...And they have minor rust....so I called Ford customer service line, and explained my rear struts are junk, and Im tired of waiting for this "remedy" and I DONT need a lawsuit for my reservors falling off and killing someone, So Ford AGREED to open a case and gave me a case number to use later....I also told them I was buying aftermarket Struts and would be sending them a bill for the rear replacement ones (I bought new ORI struts $1600 EACH) and Ford agreed to reimburse the value of the original struts whenever the "remedy" becomes available. So at least I'll get something back someday...So happy about this!

Since it almost certainly failed at the reservoir joint anyway, I'm on team "kick the reservoir off" so you can at least get covered under warranty.

If you're looking at aftermarket suspension, I am extremely satisfied with the Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 coilover kit. Rides great, fully adjustable, available with HD springs if you run heavy.

Since it almost certainly failed at the reservoir joint anyway, I'm on team "kick the reservoir off" so you can at least get covered under warranty.

If you're looking at aftermarket suspension, I am extremely satisfied with the Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 coilover kit. Rides great, fully adjustable, available with HD springs if you run heavy.

Knocking the reservoir off won’t solve anything.
It’s a 2021, so it’s out of warranty.
Doesn’t matter if the reservoir is on or off, buying different shocks and getting reimbursed later from the recall is the only option
