So, my 21 Badlands started bouncing like crazy, literally overnight. Took it in for inspection, assuming it was the recall issue. They said it’s not, and not covered.

1500.00 in parts alone. Eff that.

55k miles of street driving, and the struts go bad. lol.

Guess I’m trading it in.

Odd that you don’t have the recall.

I do. I brought the letter with me. They said it’s not the issue that’s covered under the recall.

So one of your rear reservoirs hasn’t fallen off? Are they leaking from the reservoirs?
If not, then yeah it wouldn’t be the recall issue 🤷‍♂️
Either way they’ll be replaced eventually under the recall though.

Sadly, it’s absolutely not drivable. It’s all over the road, and bumps nearly send it into the ditch. Never seen bad struts this “bad,” and basically happened overnight.

Recalls won’t start until 3rd quarter.

My old 94 Ram is back on duty.

I might celebrate if mine went bad ... so I'd have a reason to get Bilsteins (lift) installed.
BUt , as I 've said in the past, my Hitachis will probably last 350,000 miles ..... LOL.

@Ducati1098 ... could he have better luck at a different dealer? ... or the rumor I heard was once the warranty/recall repair has been denied, it will stay in the system that way and nobody will touch it.

Unless one of the reservoirs has fallen off, it doesn’t matter where he takes it.
Even if one did fall off, if it’s out of 3/36, it would be up to the customer to pay for new shocks until the recall is out and then it would likely be reimbursed by Ford.

There is no system that shows dealers denied warranty claims. So any other dealer would have no idea it was brought somewhere else first.

OP, take a moment and think through it, If its not covered by warranty and it’s not safe to drive, you’re going to bear the loss either way, fix or trade. If you’re happy otherwise, just fix it. I recently replaced all of my oem badsquatch bilsteins knowing a recall was coming because three were leaking with Bilstein 6112. $1,500 is what I paid the parts. Installed myself.

Good luck.

I’ve considered the Eibach Pro 2.0. Perhaps the Bilstein 6112 should be considered too. Changing them myself is easy. Been working on cars forever.

Just not happy with a suggested 1500.00 bill for something they’ll replace even if they’re not bad, when the time comes.

We have two broncos, and enjoy the heck out of them.

Its the rear end of the Bronco that is bounding? Any signs of leakage from or damage to one of the shock absorbers? It is odd that it would suddenly lose all damping overnight. That really sucks.

No leaking that I saw. I drive the same route daily to work. The other day coming down a particularly rough hill, it felt like the rear end was coming off the ground. Our roads suck, so I never take that hill too fast anyway. I ended up going about 10mph to keep it from completely going crazy.

On the highway, about 45-50 is about all you can do before rough spots will cause it to go all over the road.

Seriously, been driving for about 40 years, and have never seen anything like it.

Must be some kind of internal valve or seal failure. But yeah, sadly not covered by the recall. Sorry to hear that.

You should buy a couple take-offs and fix it yourself. Then make Ford replace them all under recall.

Buying take offs that have the same problem would be a waste of money.
They aren’t going to warranty or recall multiple sets for one vehicle lol
