Does anyone know the O-ring size for the plug? I've reused the original plug, but think I might want to replace the O-ring next time.

on our Ranger Raptor, the dealership tech did NOT tighten the plastic plug correctly, dumped 2-3 Quarts out all over the undercarriage and it got blown up and all over engine bay. Called them up with an attitude and told them to get this s*** fixed now, they sent out at mobile tech guy and he checked the oil and then towed the truck back to the dealership for the engine detail and a new oil change and a new plug.

They actually installed a new style of plug (Ford) that is quite a bit different than the older one. Similar to the aftermarket ones above. I find it odd that Ford would offer a replacement part but not tell anyone there's an issue with the original. Plastic drain pans and plugs are junk in my opinion.

yet another reason to get a new (and not expensive) plastic plug every time.

I replace the drain plug once.........with a Fumoto F107SX drain valve (2.3L). Then, draining oil is easy peasy forever and ever.
I did this on my ranger an if I start doing my own changes on the bronco I will put one on it. I use the valve with the nipple for a drain hose. I leave the hose on the skid plate connected to the valve. I just put it in a jug an open the valve, no removing skid plates.

True story. A Fumoto rep walked into my truck dealer in 1982 and introduced the Fumoto product to me. I was immediately sold on the design and quality. He set up an account for me on the spot. I immediately installed them on all my (Ford) parts delivery and service trucks, which I personally serviced monthly. What a time saver. I've been using them ever since. I even have one on my Yanmar diesel-powered Deere X750.

*I had Fumoto drain valves on my diesel 1985-1986 Ford Rangers (factory-installed with 2.3L Mitsubishi turbo diesel engines).

Curious how they managed to screw up installing it. You just do a quarter/half twist and it locks into place.

Also I’ve haven’t seen any type of new style plug. If they replaced it with something other than the normal yellow plug, it definitely wasn’t from Ford.

I have changed mine a couple of times, but it seems fine to me using the plug more than a few times, never had a leak and have changed oil 8 times now., every 5k Mobil 1 full synthetic for my baby.

I use this, put it in after the first oil cage, now just turn the knurl knob. I just slip a clear rubber tube on the end.

Do you know if the UPR one comes with replacement O-rings? I love the design of that and would wanna buy extras to have on hand - I'd probably replace the O-ring every 20-30k mi just as a preventative maintenance step.

Did something specific make you choose this over the Ronin valve? I have the Fumoto on my '23 F150 5.0 and love it, but its not an option for the 2.7.

Don’t remember, but I haven’t removed mine since installing at about 2500 miles. I’m now at 17000 or so. Hasn’t leaked. I change my oil around every 4K.

Yeah, I wanted the Fumoto too, have it on my F150 Raptor. Nothing specific, I believe I had a $10 coupon at the time, LOL!

Ronin all the way for me. Changed oil this weekend. Literally 5 minutes from go till start of drain. No mess no fuss. Waiting for the drip to stop took the longest.

If you have a drip that lasts longer than 4 hours, see a doctor.
