How much more do we see Ford limiting the 2 door? Is there a chance it goes away entirely ?

They will sell what people want to buy.

Note: Just because a few people want to buy doesn’t mean they’ll make a bunch, or even a proportional amount. Many people would need to want before they’ll put them out to sell. Which begs to question. With the way gladiators are selling, why don’t we have the Bronco truck?
Because Ford doesn’t want to cannibalize any F150 sales.

My wife and I must like 2 door vehicles. We have the 2 door Bronco and 2 regular cab 2 door pick ups- hers a 2013 Silverado 2WD, mine a 1987 Chevy Squarebody 4 wheel drive. When they are in the garage together side by side it must look so radically different than most peoples garages that have 2 SUV's.

I remember the original Taurus SHO (1989-1991). It was available manual trans only. So of course, Ford Thinks: If we had an auto trans, we would sell more. So they make an auto trans along with the manual, and pretty soon the auto is outselling the man trans. Then, of course, Ford stops producing the man trans entirely, thus ruining the image of the Taurus SHO, which was designed to appeal to the enthusiast. Taurus SHO was canceled completely soon after. And that is the Product Life Cycle when the accountants run the joint. So, my point: The Bronco 2 door and man trans are very important to the off-road enthusiast, and help carry the rough-and-tumble off-road image out to the 4 door Outer Banks auto trans hard top mall-crawler. Mr Farley, are you listening please ??

So glad I got my 2-door Base with 7MT when I did. I love driving this thing.
Picked up a used '23 2-door base with the MT in Eruption Green from Carvana three months ago. The previous owner had already done a few mods I would have done anyway (roof rack, wheels/tires, steps). Love it.

Let’s be honest, accept for actually building the Bronco, has Ford done anything that makes sense? Even the Bronco reservation/ order system turned into an all time fiasco. IMO the driving factor for every decision Ford makes today is an attempt to get out from under the massive EV investment. As for the two door Bronco, it takes no additional cost to build a two door. True they ell at a lower percentage, but that should have zero reason for limiting that model to certain trims. Another blunder by their current CEO. Henry is rolling in his grave.
The 2 Door definitely incurs more cost for Ford vs just building 4 doors. Different exterior/interior parts carry with them more overhead as does the different tooling and assembly line requirements. Less build options always reduces cost and simplifies manufacturing.

Ford already spent the money developing the 2-Door, the parts are made and the assembly lines are in place, and they'll keep making it if for no other reason than it looks good in advertisements and autos shows and dealership showrooms. They may limit production to just the Base and Badlands going forward, but I don't think their production capabilities are so limited that they would axe it outright.

Bottom line is that manufacturers build what they can sell at an acceptable profit margin. If they did anything else, they wouldn’t be in business long.

chrysler once shipped a complete LeBaron across the ocean for Maserati to bless it and then ship it back. The Maserati TC only sold a few thousand and was overall a huge loss.

dont underestimate how stupid high-level executives can be.

I would not be surprised if ford makes a vehicle trim that everyone here would agree makes zero sense financially.

The Jeep XJ came in a 2 door. Not popular, too many lazy children.

The wheelbase was the same between 2 doors and 4 doors.

That's actually not true, there is a LOT of cost involved in offering a 2-door version. It's a different frame, different body, different rear driveshaft, different top, different roll cage weldment, different rear seats, different storage area components, different molded plastics inside for the rear...there is a LOT of cost in tooling just to build the thing. Because of lower sales, that means the cost of that tooling can't be spread out over as many parts, which means a higher piece price for everything that gets made. That means that the profit margin on lower-sales units is MUCH lower than higher-volume ones.

So really, 2-door Broncos are costing Ford a LOT more per vehicle than a 4-door model. Sure, there's less actual material there, and likely less labor, but there's a LOT of up-front tooling costs that still need to be covered by the program.

In all honesty, I think IF the Bronco lives past this generation, you may not see another 2-door version of it. The ONLY way you will is if Jeep is still offering a 2-door. Which is questionable.

The other manufacturers dropped almost all of their regular cab short bed pickups so I think the Bronco 2 door is close behind. I think the gas mileage standards measure off wheelbase and the shorter something is, it has to meet a much higher mpg so that's another reason they don't want to make 2 door vehicles anymore. I'm glad I found my base V6 2 door Sas back in 2023 from a dealer with no markup. I think I'm almost done with mods, I know a couple more I plan to do but after that I'm sure I'm done. ;)

yes 💯. it’s definitely regulations, not much to do with Ford itself. 2 doors just make it harder to meet efficiency standards.

maybe with plugin-hybrid version that will dodge the standards a bit; a car manufacturer has to meet what 50mpg across their entire fleet? A number that goes up every year? They’ll probably be forced to kill the 2.7L V6 even.

Now, see I wouldn't mind a four door-length Bronco with three doors or the little half doors, if they'd keep the longer door from the 2dr. I'd still prefer a 2dr as it is now, but having a 2dr+ in the longer wheelbase could be interesting, too.

The 2.3 is more powerful than the 4 and 6 cylinder engines in the Wrangler so there’s not much to compete with. I think if Wranglers start getting the Hurricane engine there could be more 2.7 options, depending on what models Jeep limits them too. I doubt they put them in a door but if they do there should be 2.7s added back to some 2 door Bronco models. Jeep needs to step it up to force Ford’s hand.
