Every time I visit the forum I think to myself "today would be a great day for yet another thread of old guys whining about not getting their precious v8".
And it's not something you're interested in (I guess?), but yet here you are, commenting anyway...

I'd happily pay for a NA engine, Coyote, voodoo, godzilla, whatever Ford wants to build. Hell, bring back the 3.7L V6 from the Mustang and I'd happily pay for that over a small engine with a turbo.

Well my 2011 F150 V8 runs great. So does 4.6 in my 2006 Mustang. Then again the 351 in my 70 Mach 1 is only 55 years old so the jury is still out on its ability to last.
Awesome! If i had to guess you don't have many miles the Mach 1. Plus it all about how you take care of them. my 2004 Ranger has 220k miles still runs great and I've driven the crap outa it since high school. My 2011 F250 Power stroke has almost 160k miles and has towed a 14,000lb camper all over the county. Still runs fine. As does my Focus RS that has 71k miles that I race and beat on. Not going to mention the bronco because it only has 38k miles. New cars are hit or miss they mass produce them way more than they did in 1970. the more they make the more you will see issues. Even NA engines are way more complicated that they use to be.

I have owned the 70 Mach since I was 18. I am 65 today. The car has 168K on it. Your RS is a keeper.

5 Arnold references in one response, impressive lol.

To the topic at hand. Don't get me wrong, I love V8s and love the coyote. But the Coyote IMO is much better suited to Mustang duty than the Bronco. It's limited experience but everyone I know that has had multiple F-150s and uses them for truck stuff vastly prefers the ecoboosts over the 5.0 in their trucks.
I kind of agree as it depends on what you are using the truck for. A lot of people in my city just use them as commuters with the beds still in pristine condition. In that case either engine will suffice. The Coyote 5.0L does its best work at higher RPM's which is at odds with some pickup truck duties vs the more accessible torque of the Ecoboost. The 5.0L sounds way better through.

Do they have the same block?
Not identical, but very close. Obviously the 3.0 has larger bores.
Other than that I’m not sure there is any difference though.

Ducati, what the chances of my twin turbos making it to 200K?

2.3 and the 2.7 are both excellent engines. I couldn't imagine going back to the 351w and c6 that my 1989 bronco came with. Ya, it sounded good with long tube's and a cam but is no comparison to the 2.7 and the ten speed. 3 speed life sucks. Not to mention fuel economy.

Coyote is a great engine as well, but is best suited to a light car like the mustang. In an f150 nothing happens till 3500 to 4000 rpm which to me is not ideal for a truck. Also at the dealership I work at, it's one of the most replaced engines behind the 7.3 and 1.5. At least the gen 3. My old man has a gen 1 and its been great.

Never seen a 2.7 replaced. Very few 2.3s either.

It'd be far more than $10,000 for a V8 option. Ford would need to include a new PCM, exhaust, radiator, transmission, driveshaft, differential, rear axle, etc. The list goes on and on, not to mention new harnesses and wiring. Hell, new suspension would be needed to handle the extra weight of the engine.

If such a thing were conceivable, it would probably be the same price difference between the F150 Raptor and Raptor R, and would only be available to the flagship Braptor.

Nope, there's no hope.
Why not put a ecoboost version of the 300 straight six .

The fuel economy sucks enough as it is.

Yeah, I get it - you don’t care.

But it’s not about you. It’s about CAFE numbers.

Even if someone is hoping that the current administration will change things, automakers aren’t big on taking the risk that the next administration will have a different view.
Or just send it to Hennessey for the upgrade.

I am really pleased to know you have enjoyed your Mach 1. No use letting sit in a garage and keeping low miles on it. The RS is a very fun car ill have it forever if i can!

Only because it’s what they currently have to offer. If I had my way, I’d bring back a carbureted 351 Windsor with no computer controls. šŸ˜…. But that’s impossible, however the Coyote is slightly more possible if Ford would get off their asses. Like I said, now is the time to do so before everything swings back the other way.
Nostagia is an absolute real disease.
