Video of the vibration without stiffening the mount.

EDIT: The view in the mirror was much worse than the recording. Hard to tell which lanes the cars were in.

Acoording this video, I can tell it's the loose bracket. I think you need to secure the connection of the bracket, as @11811 said.
I don't seem to have any significant vibration issues. I will say that when first mounting the wolfbox custom mount I did have some vibration but found quickly that the mount was not completely seated to the windshield tab causing the the set screw to come loose. It also has so many wires attached to the the top of the mirror I press it up until it hits the plastic trim above and this seems to give the mirror some extra support.

I just placed an order this weekend.

Hope mine doesn't rattle otherwise it's going back...

Disappointing if it's a DIY fix.

I am going to agree with you. Early on in this process, the set screw for the windshield mount WAS loose. I thought this video was after I tightened it. To make sure, I removed the thermal pad and did a road test. There is still movement in the mirror, the camera video is stable.

See the videos of how much flex is in the backplate. This was with all screws installed. I'll try a smaller piece of thermal pad later and I'll post the results. Is it possible I have a bad backplate?

Something I noticed. With the camera display on. I can stare at it with no issues. But when display is off. I get dizzy looking at it lol. Glad you resolved most of it

I'll check it for you. Please wait for my reply. If the bracket is bad, I'll send you new one.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a Wolfbox while their Labor Day sale is going on, but this potential vibration issue makes me nervous.

Don't let it worry you. After I shimmed mine, I've had zero problems. No overheating, and I'm in Texas. I love the product, it's become my second favorite modification. (Behind a mObridge amp.) If you do have vibration it's a very simple fix.

That's good to hear, thanks! On an unrelated question, could you tell me what the mirror looks like if the unit is turned off? Is the surface reflective like an actual mirror, or is it just a plain glossy screen? If I do buy one, there's a chance I won't have the time to wire up the rear camera for a few weeks, and I'm wondering if it can be used as a traditional rear view mirror in the meantime.

It works great as a conventional reflective mirror as long as you don't install the glare filter.

I am also having vibration with this OEM mount, and yes I have tightened the set screw as much as I dare. All the other screws are also as tight as I dare. I am considering making a new plate out of aluminum 1/8 inch thick. Some things would have to be figured out like what thread size and pitch are the threads on both the screws that connect that OEM plate to the back of the display as well as the Center stock that connects to the back plate itself. Also figure out some rectangle shaped spacers to hold the aluminum plate a little further away from the display itself. Mounting the center stock to the back of the aluminum plate would be easy. Anyone out there who has fabrication skills could mock something up without too much effort I imagine.

Wolfbox needs to be creating this plate out of metal rather than plastic to eliminate the flex. And not out of cheap pot metal either.

I haven't had any issues since I shimmed mine. I agree the mount needs to be better, I'm expecting to see Wolfbox eventually address the issue and a hopefully a better bracket will be available.

Tonight, I moved my camera from the rollbar to the rear tire. I put my top on and the view was too restricted. I hate that the camera is in the weather now. It would be nice if there was a hood to shield it from the rain. I'm pondering how to fabricate something. I got kind of creative getting it inside the spare tire. I used the AGS off-road mount for a base, I'll eventually add some lights to it as well.

Solved the screen vibration issue. see below photos. I used a sheet of aluminum plate that is .09 inch thick (2.29 mm). I used spacers that are .25 inch thick to seperate the display from the aluminum plate. The cap screws that hold the plate to the display are M2-.4mm by 12mm long. The cap screws I purchased to hold the center post to the plate are M3x.5mm x16. (I did cut these off to make it flush with the nut on the back side) I considered using a tap to thread this but decided not to due to the thickness of the plate I used. The spacers were the toughest part of this. I did not have access to .25 inch spacers that were rectangle and fit down in the place on the back side of the display. I made them out of 1/8 inch thick plastic washers purchased from Ace. I must have spent close to 2 hours filing them down to fit the space needed. I also changed the machine screw that fastens the arm to the windshield to a cap screw. I believe this allows a greater degree of torque to minimize the chance of any vibration coming from that connection. All of the cap screws I found at my local Ace Hardware. The aluminum I sourced from a buddy. I would have purchased a piece of 1/8 inch thick plate but when I saw this piece, I thought it would be good enough and I do believe it is.

Edit: well I guess I don't know how to post photos. I was trying to do this from my Macbook that has the photos in the photos app.

If I post from my PC and need to include pictures, I edit the post with my phone to attach them. You are not mixing IOS with Windows though. Very curious to see your fabrication.
