which hood prop?

Nothing…I am more than happy with the stock prop rod…

Keep it simple, less stuff to break. You could paint the stock prop neon orange or something I guess.... If you wanna be fancy

Okay, makes sense. As I read this I wondered why. Then I thought about how old hoods did a coil to lift . I assume factories left that for costs and weight savings. Once I guessed that I considered the tensile strength of tho hood they make. I now wonder if the pivot point where a non stock prop attaches on a long enough time line, will start to damage the hood.
Just how my thought process went. I may be off.

That's a reasonable consideration, but so far after a lot of use, I haven't noticed any signs of strain on the attachment points or hood in general.

Related to that though, it seems to me the struts that attach closer to the hood pivot point might cause more stress due to the leverage and greater cylinder force needed, so review that aspect if concerned.

Also I did not remove the stock hood prop. In case of some high wind situation, it might be better to use that. Otherwise the hood struts I got are convenient, more out of the way and raise the hood higher than the stock prop. Struts are not required but I appreciate them every time I have to raise/close the hood.

I like the raise the hood higher. One thing I liked about all my HEEPs was the ability to open the hood back to the point it restedon the windshield.

I open and close the hood every morning and evening dealing with a raccoon issue...

Deer camera hooked up to a train horn under the hood. Should fix that raccoon up! lol

That’s another aspect of the MRT hood struts that I didn’t mention in my post earlier. That if you’re using MRT hood struts and you have your hood open on a windy day watch how the top of the hood bounces continually up and down and then look at the hood at the fulcrum point where the hinge mounts to the hood and you can see it flexing. Eventually that will likely be a failure point.
