I've had the Rough Country hood struts for about 10 months waiting for my, purchased yesterday, Badlands. Probably look to install tomorrow or Saturday. Anyone have any experiences w/RC? Thanks!

the RT Max LIFT struts are fantastic - easy install on my '22 Bronco
- really lift hood out of the way nicely
- & no further need for OEM hood-prop - I removed it

have RT hood struts on '90 4Runner also - perfect
Thank you for your feedback and continued support! (y)

Something about paying Ford more money for something that should have been standard equipment... Just doesn't sit right. 😠

Just my opinion, but I don’t understand why anybody needs these. I have zero plans of keeping my hood open.
Ever work in the engine compartment? I have the Ford Performance which I believe are actually Redline.

I got a pair from StickerFab for $40...they're solid.

Am I missing why these other kits cost over $100?

Personally, I like the idea of the strut pushing on the hinge instead of the hood.
Agreed. I also like the idea of the force being distributed across two points in a bracket instead of going to just one ball mount in the hood. I didn’t realize this until after I had hood struts installed, with the design of just one ball mount in the hood. Mine began to separate from the attachment point in the thin aluminum of the hood. If you have this type of design, regardless of brand, I would keep an eye on your hood attachment points, especially before and after long road trips or off roading. I removed and went with MRT’s design instead.

I felt the same way, but three times, I have. Once was the HOSS 3 rack, then the transmission skid, and finally the differential cover. I gave Redline my money for the high lift struts, which have been solid.
