I haven't tried the Mabett version, but I've had the Redline version (link below) for two years and they work great. I open my hood nearly every day and they are just as good as new. I went with the Redline because they raise the hood a bit higher, interfere less when working on the engine from the side, and were on sale at the time.

I put Redline struts on my Subaru back in 2013. They're still working great.

Just curious, not trying to be a smart-ass...Why do you open your hood almost every day? I raise mine maybe twice a month, sometimes one, to check fluids etc...

Got the Mabett strut under my hood. Going on 2 years no problem.

If you noticed I failed to put an "s" after "strut" you are either a grammar Nazi or very astute. I can't run the passenger side strut due to the snorkel. So you'll be happy to know that - even on one strut - it lifts and holds the hood just fine.

If the day ever comes when it doesn't, well I've got the replacement sitting on the shelf already.

Do it.

I bought a pair of the Ford Performance struts at 20% off a couple of months ago. Easy to install and definitely improved clearance, easier hood open/close, and no prop rod in the way.

Do not get the Mabett hood strut. Take a look as to where the strut attaches to the fender vs the Ford Performance or the Redline Tuning, and as to how low it positions your hood. The Mabett is much lower in height, and the struts will definitely get in your way if you need to work on the engine.

One caution of warning. I bought a set from Xtreme terrain and I love the way they work. BUT they don't have any reinforcement for the hood sheetmetal so after a few months I see it is deforming under pressure from the struts. They need a backer plate to keep the load distributed...

I have had the Mabett for two years and they work perfectly.

I've worked on my engine plenty and they've never been in the way.

Ditto on the Mabett. They interfere with side access from the fender. People who don't mind that middle of the fender post don't really work "in" the engine compartment IMO.

There are several IAG copies on Amazon. I prefer that near-the-firewall style. All the same factory. You shouldn't pay Ford or IAG bloated prices. Just look carefully at the hardware being offered.

I bought the Bestaoo ones a year ago. Open the hood a lot more than most because I am working on some mods that have me in the engine compartment too often. No problems with spring over torque (common Mabett complaint) or metal bending at the attachment point.

At this point in the year, I would keep shopping to find the ones you want and wait for the holiday sales.

I will say I had fun at the Ford dealership getting an oil change and service watching a technician lift the hood, let go of it and then try to put the prop rod up. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
He was confused and I had to go out and tell him you don’t need the prop rod. Made me want to take the Bronco home 😳

Quality technician 😂😂

I have the Mabett, been a couple of years. No problems, haven't interfered with any work I have done.
