Same thing happened to me this morning! Ford is going to have to figure this out (just add it to their list) because it's going to get really irritating if we are having to swap these out every year or so!
If nobody goes through warranty then the only thing Ford will notice is a bunch of people buying a part for maybe adding accessories. Without claims they cannot link increased part sales to a problem

Has anyone else had an issue with the rubber breaking/tearing from the window controls? I just noticed mine, and a complete bottom section came off the driver's control. Half of the passenger is now missing. If anyone has removed the center console, I'm wondering if it's an easy fix.

100%. No matter how easy or cheap it might be to fix, Ford needs to get to the root of the problem. The more reported, the more chance future versions are improved. Heck, you’re probably buying a replacement now which will fail in the same time frame if the design or quality hasn’t been updated.

2021. Not sure of milage, but was around 10k. Haven't had an issue since replacing it... Knock on wood.

This finally happened to me today on the drivers side window control. The rubber piece finally gave out. Thank you for the thread and part number.

Mine started crumbling this past winter. I only have 1 of the 4 intact. I wont replace them since I imagine they will just crumble again. I've gotten used to it too.

Make sure you don't have any hand sanitizer or the like on your hands when you touch the switch or a leather wrapped steering wheel / shifter knob.

Alcohol based sanitizers aren't great for leather, but they're not super harmful outright in small doses.

Deet-containing insect repellents will straight up melt off TPU plastics and rubber soft touch buttons. If you've used bug spray and gotten it on your hands, wipe your hands off with a towel, or wash your hands.

I got the control panel part in the mail but I can’t figure out how to take off the stupid plastic area that attaches around it to replace it with the new control panel. Any tips? I tried pushing those little black tabs in but can’t get it to budge.

Same issue here. I have had mine for 2.5 years and yesterday the third (and first for a rear window) came off. Like others, just leaving it for now, since I’m unsure of any need for it.

Yep, easy removal and has just one plug harness in the back. I'll just have local dealership parts order it I can have it brand new in no time.

How did you get the plastic area surrounding the window control panel off?

I could remove it later this afternoon to see. It was awhile back so not sure. But the entire panel comes out real easy with trim tools. There may have been clips holding the plastic shroud around it.
