I have a 5th gen, 2024 4Runner. Bought it before this came out, so i could get one before they ruined it.

Everyone knows It was a tough, well built, underpowered but reliable v6. Simple car, and large aftermarket.

What they have created is a complex, ugly in my opinion version of what is an odd market now between the 4Runner and the Landcruiser. Its less capable, more expensive and more complex. Whereas the 5th gen was clear who they were marketing towards. People who wanted a reliable truck SUV with enough tech but nothing over-encompassing.

Another problem I have:
The landcruiser is not a landcruiser its a prado with a mandatory hybrid 4cyl turbo because without the hybrid it would be extremely underpowered. They should have put a single turbo v6 in here, a modified version of the Tundra engine, or just stuck with the V8.

The 4Runner is built on the exact same platform with the non hybrid engine.

The landcruiser is around 5100lbs, and the 2025 4Runner is 6300lbs (TRD Offroad, most common). This is going to be very taxing to the engine, with a transmission thats already had a history of being an IED in the new tacomas.

Whats the point?

Toyota needs to stop F'ing around and just bring the landcruiser here that they build in the rest of the world, with the diesel open and a v8, with a manual trans option like in the middle east and Australia.

That said, ive had my bronco for about a month, its a perfect blend of simplicity and featureset. A little wider than my jeep which i appreciate inside. Manual and the 4cyl is perfect.
Where are you seeing the specs on these, I've been looking but can't seem to find anything. The only difference I've found between the 2 is the LC has 5 in more headroom but same wheelbase?

Ok scratch that, just noticed Toyota finally loaded MY25 for 4Runner.

Yea was going to say, it went live yesterday.
I looked 2 days ago all over for info and nothing now everything. Just built our 23' 5th gen and MY25 is $10k more which is ridiculous! Built a SR5 and $44k, what is Toyota thinking 13k more for a TRDORP???

When you get your new 4Runner be sure to give us a rundown after a year of driving it. I’d like to know how it compares.
I don’t think your going to get an extra 5mpg over the Bronco unless your comparing the Sasquatch tire to the smallest Toyota tire. But that’s the kind of info I’m interested in.
The new 25 model 4runner interior looks like it’s from the early 80’s, they just slapped a screen onto the 80’s dash exterior, heck it’s not even integrated.
I’d give the Bronco a big win when it comes to exterior and interior styling over the Toyota.
I am sure the 4Runner will be a much quieter interior. But come on the Bronco top is 4 separate pieces and that’s one of the selling features for the Bronco or Wrangler. No one is buying them for the quieter ride. It’s for the flexibility and fun.
I think it could have been designed a lot better and it does not need to be noisy as hell. I wonder if the mod tops are any quieter than the mic.
I hope you enjoy your Bronco until the new 4Runner arrives. It’s always fun getting a new vehicle.
I have driven every vehicle I have owned for at least 10 years so the Bronco is here to stay till at least 2033 unless it turns into a reliability nightmare. Not getting a 4runner anytime soon. Switching new vehicles in 2-3 years is financial suicide that I am not prepared to make, especially in CA where you get no credit for taxes paid on your old vehicle when buying a new one. And as a long term owner I never buy anything newer than the 3rd model year of a vehicle.

My plan was always to replace my Wrangler around 2023-2024 with a redesigned 4runner, on the assumption that the 6g model would come out 2020ish. The 4runner got delayed so I ended up with a Bronco. I like it much better than the Wrangler it replaced, but it will never see anything more than a 4 or 5 trail for which the 4runner is more than capable. As to the gas mileage, I would be shocked if Toyota's hybrid engine cant eeek out at least 5 mpg over a Bronco. Time will tell.

4Runner is in a whole other class called the 3 row SUV. Vastly different buyers from those shopping 2 rows. Add in the high seat position and poof you have a vehicle you can charge more for.

Example
My Family member who needs a car. I need 3 rows, I need to sit high, I want leather. Check all 3 boxes and the this overpriced 4Runner is the cheapest option lol.

yep I paid I think 49 for my 24 TRDOF Premium. The new one is over 11k more. That new 4cyl is highly taxed, it’s at its max capacity. I wonder about the longevity.

The new prices are a joke. For less but that’s the same across the board for all brands.

US car inventory on the lots rose to just under 3.8M for the first time since pre-2020. People are voting with their wallet. Lots are full.

Yes, but Toyota even screwed this up to some extent with the 6th gen since you can only get the 3rd row with a non-hybrid powertrain (since the batteries are in the trunk).

That vehicle is going to be an absolute dog with the non-hybrid turbo 4 carting around 6 people.

Compared to MY2024, MY25 4Runner s coming with 7 Seater, the car grew few inches, not sure if the 3rd Row is only for Kids or Adults could fit there. Previously this was not in my radar, now with available 3rd row I am interested to trade my aging 9 Yr old Pilot and join the Sasq-Bronco.

I'm thinking seriously about the 4Runner Limited without the hybrid system. The Bronco has been fun but the sound system is trash and it's loud on the freeway (my hard top did not come with sound deadening). I've never liked the windows in my Bronco either. The feel loose and they do odd things at times. The whole Bronco interior feels cheap.

It's funny that folks are saying the new 4Runner is overpriced. Have you seen Bronco prices lately?

I understand keeping vehicles, I’m still driving my 2002 f250 that the Bronco is supplementing as my fun ride. I’ll likely never own a 4 runner due to my age and length I keep my vehicles. I’ll just have to stick to seeing them on the trails.
I’m not very impressed with the hybrid they put into the new LC, the specs looked pretty great but it in reality it’s not so impressive or I just was to excited and expected to much.
I hope the Bronco last a long time.

Definitely feeling like it was worth the hustle to travel a few states away and get the exact trim/color ‘23 4Runner we wanted. 😅 Judging by the competitive market we dealt with for the 5th gen, a lot of people are wary of gen 6 faltering on the promise of Toyota's reliability.

When I first saw the 4Runner, I called up an old dealer contact to get in line as a fallback if I found Land Cruiser prices too high (they were). Now that the pricing is out and using every Toyota as a sample size, they refuse to drop their rates below 7%. I locked in at 0.99%, and could have the option of 0% if my order arrives by the 20th of this month because of Ford Canada incentives. I might also be able to swing X-Plan which increases the value proposition.

I know that lots of us don't necessarily buy based on the numbers, but I kind of did because the Bronco was a comparable vehicle without dealing with Toyota knowing they don't have to do a thing with incentives. Combined with their reputation for reliability being tested very recently, I would rather take a chance on Ford despite being someone who has owned five Toyotas in the past.

The 4Runner is made in Japan whereas the Tacoma's sold in the US are being made in Mexico. A lot of Toyota's recent problems are manufacturing related, not design related. The new 2.4-liter turbo is already in use across the Lexus and Toyota range. Toyota have bet the farm on this engine. They're by far the most profitable auto maker in the world and it's not even close.
