Uhh I guess both for me. Big tires look good, plus added ground clearance. I have 315's paired with the 7mt and 4.7 gears. I'll go with actual 35's next time now I know they'll fit.

[EDIT: The following is still true but Crenca edited his post to remove the issue.]

A taller gear means a higher gear, e.g. a lower numerical ratio and lower RPMs. The 4.7 gear is the shortest OEM axle gear on the Bronco, so it gives the highest RPMs in any transmission/transfer case gear. Taller tires also create effectively taller gears for a rig.

I have the 7MT, 4.7 axles, and 33s. Personally I like the combo on the road and off. YMMV.

Thanks, and I'm sure 5th and 6th are a waste with your 38's, so your rig is all about looks, which if that's your thing then great.

Agree, 33's with a 7MT seem to be the "sweet spot"

Personally I think the huge tire look is overrated. I have the Base stock 30" and think they look great, but will get an AT tire when its time to replace. If you need 35" for off roading go for it, otherwise I would stay with 33 that is plenty big. There will be a more than negligible difference in MPG and performance.

Which I'm about to mess up bit by getting true 34s or 35s, lol.

I'm tempted to get the 5.38 gears to go even shorter - this is a trip (=highway + off-road) rig not a daily driver. Net shorter gears on the highway (despite larger tires) would make 6th more usable while making 1st and C even better off-road. I don't care if 1st is a bit low on pavement if I can get the other advantages.

However, I have to wonder about the durability of those smaller gear teeth with bigger/heavier tires, aside from the serious cost of making the change.

I'm guessing that would be rather costly to do......but I see your point.

I mean, if you really have your heart set on using 6th gear, by all means don't let me stop you.

You are forgetting about 34's. 285/75-17 Toyo's. Perfect on my 7MT Badlands. 6 ply C's which give a great flex when aired down.

Yes, but I did not forget about, I was considering that size, BUT, not a lot of options and they are all HEAVY due to load rating, many more choices in the 285/70 size and lighter tires as well.

If you really wanted the most “logical” option, you wouldn’t be driving a MT Bronco for your on-road life. You bought it because it looks cool. Why contradict that with stupid little tires?
When did 33s become “stupid little tires”? 😱 It wasn’t that long ago you couldn’t even get 33s from the factory on most off-road oriented vehicles.

Agree.....IMO, I think there are so many running 35's that makes the 33's look small

Totally agree - I love my 33's! 😂 They've been on for almost the whole 34k miles on my '21. My buddy has 37's on his, and mine look like stupid little tires when we park nearby. I might move up to 35's when they need to be replaced, but maybe not. Such an individual thing!

Function over form any day. Looks? Who cares? Mine need to perform off road, on road, snow, be quiet and handle well on wet pavement.
