Well, 15 days out of my warranty and the hard top literally blew off, Ford is charging me over $2,000.00 to replace.

Started with a crack and then blew off, I had to rip it off...
What's the warranty time for the tops?

Not sure if anyone here saw my post in another thread how mine had this problem.

Here's the rundown:
1. This is happening on mine around the driver's side rear window. Nowhere else on the top.
2. I am ~4 months out of factory warranty so of course Ford tried to deny any warranty coverage.
3. If it progresses far enough, the window could fall out since the glass is clearly attached to the laminated edge in the openings. That *is* a safety issue, so I am clearly filing a complaint with NHTSA about it.
4. Even though i have an extended warranty, as noted, extended warranties do not cover the top.
5. After some back and forth, my new top is supposed to be here Monday. I am not sure how they worked it out, but I got the top notably below the price on accessories.ford.com, but still not a free warranty replacement. That sucks, but I gotta keep it right, ya know? :)

How much did they charge you if you don't mind me asking. Thanks! Just trying to get ready for the shock....

It wasn't much of a discount at $4,645.75 plus sales tax for the top itself. The labor they said would be minimal since its replacing an existing rather than installing as new meaning no harnesses, brackets, or hoses to install which should cut the labor to be no more than an hour at their flat rate.

Not sure I would give them the satisfaction of charging you an hour... Show up with a buddy or a wife or a child and put it on yourself in the parking lot

Do you get another 3/yr warranty on that one? It was a $1,800 upgrade if the factory put it on, and $4,600+ for the dealer to replace?

Nope. Just the standard 12mo/12K mile warranty on accessories, which also sucks, but I did add a rider to my auto insurance specifically for the top itself. yeah, its another $25/mo on my insurance, but it still comes out cheaper in the end if the new one fails around the 3 year mark.

You know of a lot of dealers that would allow customers to install parts on their property? They are crazy to expose themselves to the liability. Customer is more than welcome to pick up parts and install them on their own off the dealer's property.

It looks like the tops are selling for a premium, Ford parts want $5K for them and then you need to install them yourself.

Is the new one better built than the old one? You got an early FE when they were having problems in '21 and sending people better V.2 ones after they changed suppliers. Was the problem one the one you got from the factory build?

The one that failed is the original top it came with back in 2021. There's one thread on the Broncos on Dirt Mountain from September 2021, about a month before I took delivery of mine. Tere's no doubt in my mind its a V.1 top.

I won't know on the quality until the new top is installed next week. I certainly hope its better. I will report back once its all said and done and let you know :) I plan on taking some photos for comparison to help with visualizing how different they are. :)

The Hard top was an $1800 UPGRADE from the soft top. You have to add the price of the soft top to that $1800.
