Ford really trying to push that Hugely overpriced Stroppe, it seems…
I saw 3 Stroppes sitting on the dealer lot when I got my oil changed recently. One out front on the grass by the road and 2 more buried way in the back among the other stock. Made me wonder how long they’d been there.

Maybe leftover 2025 Stroppes will get a big discount late in the year, or particularly next year. Maybe it'll be possible to get a decent price on one if that's what you want.

I’d love the Coyote. Yes yes, some of you people love the ECOBoost, and that’s totally fine. But anyone who is a true car guy and does their own work knows simple is better. I get the 2.7 has the turbo kick in 3-5 business days, but many just like the predictable torque curve of a V8. Also there is a lot less to go wrong, especially for those who try and keep vehicles long term. Because of all that, I’d love to see the 5.0 as a simple option on all models and not some special overpriced edition. Same as the F150. Then everyone can get what makes them happy.
I love a nice V8 as much as the next guy but the 2.7 is worlds better than a coyote from an engineering standpoint. It has less moving parts, it’s the only CGI gas engine block in the world, forged everything, direct mount turbos, etc
It was entirely overbuilt and makes almost the same power at basically half the displacement. I’d argue to say Ford was going to use the 2.7 to replace the 5.0 if they were forced to drop V8s

Today I learned!
"...It features a compacted graphite iron (CGI) block, a material typically used in diesel engines, which contributes to its strength and durability."

If you were such a "true car guy" who did his own work, then you'd probably realize that the v8 is more complex than an ecoboost since it has more moving parts... The EBs also make their peak torque at lower RPM than the 5.0 so I'm not sure where you are getting the turbo lag angle from.

That said, I'd like a gasoline V8 that harkens back to the original 302 formula. Not particularly powerful. No more than 350hp. And mellow in tone.......not obnoxious like so many today. It's about having a V8 alike the original formula. It's not a race truck option, but rather all about that unmistakable subdued V8 sound.
This would be perfect, please Ford. Oh, and in a 2dr as well. 😬

I’m getting the turbo lag from the damned turbo lag that is present. Also, you’re claiming the V8 has more moving parts vs something with a twin turbo? See here is the issue, it’s people that don’t work on these vehicles or run a fleet of Fords like I do. Everything looks good on paper, but in reality the amount of turbos and wastegates that I need to replace on a regular basis would make you think different.

And I reiterate, if you or others enjoy the ECOboost, then awesome, I support it. I can see how having the mid range power can be fun, because it is. But for those that work on cars, sometimes it’s not always about the power but long term reliability. I also prefer the predictable torque curve of the V8. It surprises me on these threads when people bring up the V8 and you get such crazy push back. All Ford needs to do it offer the option, and not some crazy overpriced special edition, and let everyone get what they want, simple.

I think people might mistake the software induced throttle “delay” in normal mode with turbo lag.

The 392 is not exactly a good engine from the "not blowing up" point of view. While in theory, I like a pushrod engine, the 392 has well known lifter issues.

Now that the CAFE penalty is dead for next year. There is absolutely Zero Reason Ford cannot give me a 2-door manual with the 5.0 Coyote. We know it fits, we know it mates to the transmission, and Ford will no longer have to pay a federal CAFE penalty if they build me one.
aftermarket v-8 bronco is coming but its going to be pricey

I'm glad to see other manufacturers holding on to V8s as well....Bronco V8 swaps will become more common soon enough. I just saw an ad for a Godzilla with the transmission today for $6999.oo.!!!
there IS plenty of room for either the 5.0/5.2 or the 7.3 V8s. I'm starting my own swap at the end of August.

Ford will most likely offer a very limited run of special order V8 Broncos. HOWEVER, minimal dealer allocations and limited supply will drive the price/cost even higher than the Braptor or F150 Raptor R. Oh wait they called it the DR.🤪
And how is stellantis doing?

Those peak torque ratings are measured on dyno runs with rpms held steady (more or less) which allows boost to build up to maximum, so in real world the lag is very much present in many (most really) circumstances.

N/A torque is (almost) instantaneous under all circumstances, with only altitude being the practical exception...

You're correct about everything here, except there's no hope of a mass production 5.0 bronco.

The idea that an NA v8 is "more complex" than a ttv6 is insane. Have they looked under the hood?

Meh, I'll keep my 2.7V6. As it was stated earlier, its a stronger block, makes more TQ earlier, and can be modded out to really perform. A 5.0 is going to give you vroom vroom and some tq, but that's it. For off-roading, in all of its forms, the 2.7 and 3.0 can give you all you need. Hell, even the 2.3 can get the job done.

The Bronco is not a race car, though yeah, it can go fast, (trust me, I have left a few things at the line))but it was not built for that. If I need speed or want to hear Vroom Vroom I have 68 GTA with a built 351w and a Shelby in the garage. That will cover the V8 wants.

Use the right tool for the job being done.
