I have a 2024 Badlands with 19K miles, and the auto stop/start isn’t working. While I’m enjoying not having to switch it off manually, I wonder if this is indicative of another problem or problems that maybe haven’t surfaced yet.

AC running or battery starting to fail (low voltage) would be the 1st couple things to check.

Lots of reasons for it to not work. Many that wouldn’t indicate any type of issue.
I recommend looking at all the other similar thread.

Apparently my search skills are lacking. Thank you.

If it’s hot outside and your ac is running, it will not work by design.
it is indeed hot, and my AC is running all the time this time of year. Interesting that I never had the issue last summer. I’ll look at the battery, too.

Mine rarely works unless I been driving on the interstate for a while. As I understand it, the threshold voltage where it works or doesnt work is so low that your alternator is not able keep the battery above that threshold. As the battery gets older the issue become more pronounced due to the declining state of the battery. You could throw a trickle charger on it overnight if you arfe determined to have it work. Me, I never use it anyway so I dont worry about it. Good luck.

Long story short:

The Bronco has a BMS (battery management system) that takes a bunch of factors into account... outside temperature, battery charge state, battery health, electrical load, etc. etc.

If it stops doing Auto Start/Stop completely in moderate weather, and you start getting the messages on your Ford app that it's entering Power Saver mode when parked, that's usually a sign that your battery has aged and needs to be replaced. Otherwise, don't worry about it, it's just doing its thing.

I heard there is a pending recall for the BMS system. According to NHTSA not being warned at least 30 minutes before the driver needs to poop can increase the likelihood of a crash, causing serious injury or death.

I can attest this is true. While I didn't wreck, I did get a speeding ticket.

Battery could need a charge, or battery is deteriorated enough to inhibit idle stop. Also, blower on high with heat or AC will inhibit idle stop.

I recently replaced my battery, failed cranking load test, though the reserve capacity was still good. Started up just fine, but would never go into idle stop.

Thanks to everyone. I’ll look into the battery. Gotta use the AC in DFW in the summer. I’m enjoying not having to shut the “feature” off manually. 😂

Most likely means your battery is getting weak. If you go the menu/view for it, it will tell you exactly why it's not working when you come to a stop (in real time).

I was talking to an employee at my local Ford dealership and he said when the start/stop doesnt work its a sign your car battery is about dead.
