They wouldn't let me rent one with my Sport Trac either. Even though it was a Ranger at heart, it still said "Explorer" on the badge.I also was denied a uhaul rental even though my Explorer was a different model year and different tires than the affected models, hah.
My tires from the factory (ordered my Bronco) were way over inflated too. Must be something they do.
I had the same experience with my Toyota T-100 decades ago. I found the handling squirrelly on the highway and I blamed the suspension. It turned out the problem was overinflated tires. Once that was fixed it handled fine for a pickup truck.Ford does overinflate for shipping. Part of PDI is to take the air pressure back to the door sticker, so if OP had high pressure leaving the lot, that's on the dealer.
