2021+ Bronco ForScan Thread

Well the IPC is universal for all models (only an MT and AT variant) so I don't think you'd have any issues but I also haven't been following along to closely lately so hopefully it works.

I really don't recommend doing plain English changes. ForScan came out with those after years of compiled data on relatively unchanged coding but the 2021 vehicles were re-written so it's easy to have them either not work or change something completely different. Not saying this is for sure but it's just something I quickly stumbled across when I got into the Bronco and F-150 system. Could be good to go though I'm just extra cautious and like to make specific changes. Sometimes the plain English will change multiple things at once and then you can't back track because the un-change doesn't properly undo everything.

As I feared, I still am unable to program the IPC. It gets past block 12, then goes crazy, every time.

I was able to make the changes in the BCM, so that is greatly appreciated. I will dig a little more into the IPC issue and hopefully put the finishing touches on this project.

I hear ya on using the addresses instead of the plain English. I just have not found a comprehensive list of the addresses and what they mean or the background with Forscan you have.

What year is your vehicle? I know 2022 was having issues and needed to be on the beta version of ForScan (link has been thrown around here before). Otherwise you may need to re-load the profile when you first connect to the vehicle (select new vehicle instead of your saved one). Usually that helps this issue if it isn’t related to 2022.

And we luck out on knowing values because of Livinitup’s hard work. He master decoded most modules for the F-150. I use his 2021 F-150 spreadsheet to correlate my changes. Some aren’t always the same though but it’s the closest thing we have. Helps cut down on trial and error time a lot.

Well, I chose the wrong time to get into this. It seems that emailing Forscan for an unreleased copy of the software allows IPC writing, but it appears I can't email them without a paid copy and I can't pay for a copy due to the current global issues. I may be waiting a little while.

I have a '21 with the 2.3L and M/T.

I will try from a fresh session tomorrow and go straight to the IPC with fingers crossed.

Ohh that's interesting, yeah you should be good and is likely just an issue with the profile. Sometimes it doesn't capture everything properly the first time.

Good luck. Be comforted knowing that there isn't much that will be affected by not making the IPC changes. It's all just for indicators on the dash that you're towing a trailer. Nothing urgently important since it's kind of hard to miss that you're towing a trailer. I don't have the TBC so I don't know what displays when you're towing, the setting appears to be on by default if you have the TBC, probably to make adding it seamless. I assume it just shows the current gain setting.

I could be wrong. It seemed pretty passive to me, but it would be great if something actually is displayed. I will look into that a little more another time.

That's great to hear. And there's four wires for it: Power, Ground, Brake On/Off Switch and the Control wire. I haven't actually looked to deeply into it until now but you may be right, it might just show that brakes are being applied but I doubt there will be any gain sensitivity displayed.

I understand some users here may not be in the Ford eco system at the moment so this thread may seem unusual, but in time, I hope you will learn from this thread how to modify your Bronco and add factory features it may not have shipped with. A lot of what I will discuss here at first will be Sync 3 related, due simply to the fact that the Bronco doesn't really exist at the moment, but it's so much more than that.

Utilities which can be used to splice bits of different Ford's together include, Ford's IDS, UCDSYS, ForScan, FoCCCus. Users in this website will find each of these programs very useful for a broad assortment of reasons which may be discussed here over time.

Linked here is the best ForScan tutorial on the web and will explain nearly all aspects of how to get started.

I have these words of caution: If you're tempted to order a Bronco with the assumption you can add factory features to it later which may not be offered in your tier or trim package; yes it should probably be possible. My warning is that in nearly every example on other Ford forums, it's almost always more difficult, more time consuming, and more costly than just ordering the package or feature from Ford in the first place. This thread will be of more use to owners once used Broncos hit the market a few years from now. Future used car owners don't have the luxury of ordering every option they want from the factory; but you do, so don't cheap out.

I figure the best way to kick off this thread is to explain below how I was able to record the Bronco boot animation in Sync 3. You can enable it for yourself too on any new Ford vehicle since it's not a 'leak' and Ford knowing published the content onto every new model already. Just don't redistribute the content since there's a press embargo, I learned the hard way LOL.

No matter what I do, I keep getting the prompt that I must have the extended license, to make changes. I am never seeing a screen with my information, and a license expiration date. Any words of wisdom?

you have to reapply for the extended license, it is free, even if you already used it before. It expires after 2 months I believe . I just went thru the same thing today. I could not find anyplace to buy it, so I clicked the link to get the extended license , followed the directions , had to wait about 2 hours for the email with the key , but it finally showed up. Now I have a factory fog light working switch on my FE. Going to turn off Bambi mode tomorrow.

Did you switch computers? There is a different hardware ID that is generated if you change computers. I have not run into an issue of Forscan not recognizing the license through the load license button until I switched laptops.

I did switch to another, after I could not get it to recognize on the first. I will try again, by verifying the hardware ID first. Thank you!
