Don't like that. Off road you can never be sure of the quality of fuel that has been sitting in a tank or can for any length of time. Off the grid we kept extra fuel in cans often for a long time before it was used. CARB used to take random samples around the state from gas stations as part of annual audit to insure quality and they did find issues.
🤷‍♂️ They haven't been replaceable in decades. It's a non-issue.
I don't feel like it's hard to know the quality of the fuel you use.
If you're worried feel free to install an external one.

Thinking back i have had this problem before with another vehicle but don't remember what it was. In any case a vehicle to be used in out of the way places should have a filter that is easily replaceable. Someone mentioned the 325i with an access port in the floor so they can be replaced. Sounds like a good idea to me especially in a vehicle designed for off road use.

How much lift might a 325i need to fit 40's I wonder?

Doesn't sound like anyone had any issue other then not being able to find the fuel filter.
Like I previously mentioned, if you're worried about it for some reason, feel free to install an external filter.
Thats an idea. Shouldn't have to do that the filter should be made accessible.

I mean the Bronco has been out for 5 years now? I haven't seen a single issue related to the filter not being serviceable. And I doubt we probably ever will

Your right, but i was involved in sample collection at random from gas stations and i saw the results of our findings. Most often nobody was fined but a couple of big boys were fined big time. Sorry not at liberty to mention names.

Modern gas pumps have filters, likely rated to catch probably pretty much any contaminant that would clog or damage a vehicles fuel filter whether it be replaceable or not.

Which is likely why you never hear any issues associated with having a non-serviceable filter in modern vehicles.

So I’m not sure a random collection finding some type of quality issue is worth being concerned over, but to each their own.

Fuel quality has always been an issue and still is. I have an appointment for Tuesday to sort out a fuel issue with my truck that started when i filled up at a new gas station. We will see tuesday what they will fine.
Should look at the codes myself but the older i get the lazier i get. My neighbor killed his F250 Lariat by using off highway fuel in about 2011. The engine was toast so he bought a new truck. The early diesel engines could burn anything all most like a locomotive or ship.

Nothing stopping you from filtering your fuel before it goes into the tank.

Just duct tape this fella onto that little plastic fuel filler neck that’s by your jack and you are golden

(Note - EVs may charge faster than you can fill up with that, but that’s the price you pay to polish your fuel)

Actually that's not a bad idea for fueling in out of the way out stations or cans, fuel cells. Modern fuel additives added by the oil companies will cause gasoline to degrade over time if used and may cause engine damage. Ethanol free gas is the best to use if the vehicle will sit for a long time. I use it in all my small engines and i wish i had used it in my Wooldrich Alaskan boat when i parked it 4 years ago if i had done so I could just start it up and go. Gonna be fun draining out 40 gallons of fuel.
...smile....that old 75 Ford tractor in the pix above, i changed all filters and oil today. It has a fuel filter the size of an oil filter took all of 30 minutes including bleeding the injectors. .

The issue may not be with particulate but with the composition of the fuel in the tank which may react with materials already in your car causing issues

You have to drop the fuel tank.
As far as other necessary parts, the only other thing I would get is a new gasket: 4L3Z-9276-AA
Thanks, ordered the gasket. Shouldn't be to difficult, I'll post on this thread how it went.

Decades? I'm sure I've had vehicles made in this century that had replaceable filters and it always gave me a warm feeling replacing them. But now have had several vehicles that don't have them and don't miss that cool feeling of fuel running down my arm while I try to think of any ignition sources nearby.

Yes, easily a decade. A decade is 10 years. I don't remember the last time Ford used an external replaceable filter, but it was most likely in the early 2000's. So give or take 2 decades.
