… Had 17 miles on gas got to Costco. …
Time to educate yourself on electric fuel pumps mounted in the tank.
Short version: running low on gas contributes to shorter pump life.

Good info. You’re assuming this is all the time….

So ideal pump life, when should I refill? I usually refill between 50-100 miles to go. So with 3-5 gallons left in the tank.

How low does the fuel need to be to hurt lifespan on fuel pump?

Bronco died a second time and for good after I filled up. FYI.

You don’t seem to believe this. Haha

We are way low on gas Mav.
I know it's crazy but every time we're on a trip and we're 50 miles from empty, I always say that.

Does anyone know what dealers charge for a fuel pump replacement?
Two answers here

There is a repair manual procedure and it isn't terribly difficult - drop fuel tank, remove a shield, disconnect a couple fuel lines, pull and replace. So whatever you figure for labor - I'd guess half a day if I were doing it in my driveway. With parts (sending unit + gasket - about $400 for a 2-door) on top of that.

The real answer is .. whatever they think they can get away with.

I saw two different quotes from fuel pump alone as $450-600, fires msrp pricing. Without the labor. Thanks.

Im assuming fuel pump is 36k mile warranty not the 60k mile warranty?

Fuel pump is cooled by the fuel running through it. It does NOT need to be submerged to keep "cool" and not fail or overheat. It might overheat if there is no fuel and pump continues to run dry.

We run our trucks to zero miles most of the time. I want to know the range in a variety of conditions. Our Raptor has taken over 22 gallons numerous times (funny considering the tank is rated at 21 gallons). I'm guessing the true volume is closer to 23 gallons if fully empty. Our 2dr is often 15-16 gallons to full.

Thanks everyone.

Now I’m trying to find if the fuel pump is covered up to 60k miles under warranty?

My fuel pump died on my f150, so frustrating. A tip for anyone in the future if your fuel pump dies you can usually get it going again temporarily to get home by hitting/kicking the fuel tank so that you shock the fuel pump, harder on the bronco with the fuel skid though.

Yes. It is
Thank You.

Also been told that if I have not had it serviced at the dealer they could deny warranty. Even charge me $250 hr rate for diagnostic.

Not a fan of dealers today. Haha.

Thanks again.

They won’t deny warranty just because it wasn’t serviced there. People like to make things up.
Even if they do for some ridiculous reason, just bring it to a different dealer.
