So for those of you that have done this what your opinion are the best air oil separators on the market? Suggestion, please experiences difficult and mind you I am very mechanically inclined and should not have a problem installing, although my health may dictate otherwise. LOL.

Few good options out there now compared to 3-4yrs ago. Back then I went with the J&L. Price was reasonable, easy install and does what it says...I'll have roughly a half ounce of oily smudge at 5k oil change intervals. I always check it at least once in between oil changes...seem to get more smudge in the winter months.

I don't understand why people are buying these. The 2.3L engine is good for several hundred thousand miles without one. Just because a company (and the internet) says you need a part doesn't mean you do.

Actually it was this forum that convinced me it was worthy for the DI 2.3. May not make any difference in longevity but I'm very happy the snot that is collected not going back to the engine.

IAG is probably the best if you live where it gets cold because it's got a coolant line warming it up to cut down on condensation. I've had the UPR one fill all the way up to the media and freeze which I think was causing my brake booster to stop working in super cold weather. The ford performance one doesn't seem to catch much at all. I haven't checked it in a while though. The UPR was dry last time I checked. It can probably go spring summer and fall and not be anywhere near full.

I had UPR dirty side and Radium alloy baffle plate on my HPP 2.3 was a few table spoons every 3000 miles....talk about an oil killer.

New 2.3 should be better but anything you catch is saving the motor.

Most of aftermarket ive seen is soso whether its fittings or clamps or hoses ... Id go for the FP one next time around.

Both the 2.3L MPC and the 2.7L have port + direct injection now, right? IMO the catch can should be redundant because the port injectors will wash anything off the valves with quality gas.

I have the Corsa on my 2.7 and it definitely catches stuff you don't want getting sucked back into the engine.

You can see the Corsa can mounted to the firewall in this picture.

also interested, on 2.7.
From what i understand from my research, AOS is more of a one and done and set it and forget system, where catch can's only advantage is usually cheaper.

Could anyone shine some light on the difference and if one is better than the other?
Also curious if the FP one is compatible with 2025, the website says only 2021-2023 if i remember correctly.

I think that is mostly condensation from the winter since most of my drives are 10 minutes or less. I've even started taking slightly longer routes to go places to give the engine more warm up time.

I’ve got the UPR “plug n play” kit on my 2.7L. It collects maybe a tablespoon every couple months. I chose it because the can is easily accessible between the battery and grill. Easy installation.
