I micro-scratched the entire exterior of my brand new 1993 Toyota truck going thru an old school automatic car wash with spinning brushes during my VA to AK drive heading to college. Lesson learned. Never been through one since except the touchless kind on a few occasions. In general you don't use any sort of brush on paint, period. It's why most modern wash mitts are microfiber. Today's water based paints are soft and delicate and I have a hard time believing your clear coat doesn't have micro scratches and swirls from using car wash brushes on paint.
